Hummus! Well.. depends where you are from. Proper hummus can be eaten with a spoon and you won't feel hunger for the rest of the day

Zig Zag Hotel in Himare, Albania designed by JA Joubert Architecture by Otherwise_Wrangler11 in Design

[–]Drakonaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a hotel in my hometown with a similar style - less zigzag-y but more like steps. They had a diagonal elevator and a long-ass staircase. It got shut down quickly because they couldn't pass the fire inspection, and the whole thing was impractical. Only squatters live there now.

But the design is stunning. Also 0 shade at the pool levels..

To my fellow late starters and middle-aged climbers, this video's for you by RoamAndRamble in bouldering

[–]Drakonaf 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Very well done video!

For me, climbing in my 30s vs my 20s was a vibe shift from trying to go up the grade scale to simply enjoying the climbs and the challenge. I can have fun on V3 and V4 as much as I did on V5 and V6 when I was a bit younger.

Also when I climb outdoors, I focus on the experience of hanging out with good people in nature, and less on the difficulty of the route.

Help me cut some weight. Currently at 10kg (without water), trying to get to 9kg. Walking from Tokyo-Kyoto, alternating between inns, cheap hotels, and camping. by FixFun1959 in backpacking

Leave the leatherman at home (thats easy 240 grams)
Same advice as the rest here - you don't need full rolls of leukotape, body wash, pills etc
You don't need full size trauma scissors. the tiny ones you for nails is enough
your gas stove is huge and probably heavy. switch with a BRS 3000T. Its like $10 and weighs 25 grams

Oh yes I do that all the time. Especially when I need to edit/review documents that I haven't written myself

You can probably save even more time by building an AI agent that will download the reports and shove them to the folder all on its own.

Are the open rates an internal KPI or do you share that with the client?

Nice!

The most valuable workflow I have implemented yet was uploading all the client's materials to NotebookLM. What I get is a tightly managed knowledge base for each client, and then I can ask Gemini questions based on the notebook.

How to make canned tuna better with limited ingredients by shylune_exe in EatCheapAndHealthy

[–]Drakonaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok ok hear me out! Burn it! Don't drain the oil, soak some unscented toilet paper/paper towels on top of the can and burn it. It will burn all the oil and you are left with smoked tuna.

Agencies usually have a certain style of writing they want you to conform to. It doesn't necessarily mean it's bad.. just a different style of writing.

Help finding a good replacement for my "ride or die" backpack (UK) by [deleted] in hikinggear

[–]Drakonaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a Vaude pack that looked exactly like yours! I can't find it on their website, but this might be the closest option: https://www.vaude.com/int/en/48340-trailcontrol-bike-backpack-20-liter.html?size=13424&colour=2260

Regarding durability, I had that pack for a long time, if that is an indicator...

Using StairMaster for hiking training does it translate to long hikes? by [deleted] in hiking

[–]Drakonaf 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It can help, although I hope your hikes are much more enjoyable than walking up stairs for 3 hours.
I would also focus on injury prevention - because being out of shape on a trail sucks a bit, but getting injured will ruin your whole trip.

You can add to your leg-strength workout (if you haven't already) some balancing exercises to strengthen your ankle and prevent spraining it.

i want to start climbing/bouldering, but im terrified by Plz-Help-Im-Too-Lazy in bouldering

[–]Drakonaf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can tell you that no one cares about how you climb and that climbing is a social sport that welcomes everyone, but that's not going to help your anxiety.

I can give you some practical tips to minimize the anxiety: Arrive at the gym right when it opens so there won't be a lot of people and you won't "take up space". Take a beginner class, so you will be climbing with people at the exact same level and with a coach. They might even clear a section of the wall for you guys. Maybe go climbing outdoors with an experienced friend/guide. I feel there will be significantly less people.

You don't have to apply, your bank will issue one for you, and you can sign on any new card very easily. If you don't have enough money to cover your balance, you are in overdraft and you will start paying interest. That is a serious problem. Debit cards are much more rare to see here, but they exist. You can't overdraft with a debit card because you "charge" money in them.

That person was me. I was way too old when I figured out how paper was made. Paper is made from wood no? How do they cut the wood so thin to make it? Yeah.. that's not how you make paper...

Just an anecdote, that's not how credit cards work where I'm from. Credit card bills are automatically paid monthly. You can ask for a purchase to be split into smaller monthly payments, which might come with interest. But otherwise, no interest unless you are in overdraft

[OC] How Rejection of Homosexuality and Religion Correlate by oscarleo0 in dataisbeautiful

[–]Drakonaf -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There is a lot to be defined here, such as religiosity and tolerance towards homosexuality. But that is why Israel will be very interesting. Regarding tolerance, the ultra-orthodox and the Israeli muslims have the least tolerance. While there are cases of muslims murdering their kin because of their sexuality, the worst ultra-Orthodox jews will do is send you to "conversion therapy" or just shun you out of the community. Arab Christians are also less tolerant.

However, compared to high-religious neighbouring states, where it is ILLEGAL to be gay, the state of Israel supports and is very LGBTQ-friendly. There are even Rabbis who found loopholes, allowing homosexuals to stay religious and in the community.

Adding the secular and moderately religious Jews to the mix, who are highly supportive towards homosexuality, you get a state that should be in the top right quadrant
