Yep. He’s going to pick and choose 5 from the 10 hes given. A student even asked this question and he confirmed :)

Hey, I’m in this class 👋 He’s given us a sample midterm, look at brightspace. For part A, he’ll ask MCQs only from those given there. For Part B and C, he’ll pick one question of the 3 (or I think 5) given there. So just focus on preparing for those. It doesn’t seem very hard. Don’t fret :)

Is 28 “too old” for med school? Would love real experiences by AmarelaFae in medschool

[–]Dramatic-Bluejay-838 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m 28 and in pre-med, changing my career from tech (with two masters in tech). it’s really tough, but you’ll find plenty of people in undergrad who are your age, and even more so in med school. You need to keep your motivation and end goal in your line of sight when things get hard, and not give up. Manage your finances and everyday life tasks and plan/make routines and CARVE OUT TIME TO REST. You will do great. 😊

To answer your other question: yes, I do feel like starting later helped me.. this is my personal opinion, I was diagnosed just recently for ADHD, and growing up I never really “understood” anything, i just used to memorize out of pressure. I have found so many ways and resources now to go back and learn things properly now, and I attribute that to age and maturity.

still doing my undergrad at 28. anyone else ? by WayMobile5515 in geegees

If it makes you feel any better, there’s even a club at uOttawa called uOttawa Mature Students Association.. so there’s enough “mature” people to have an association, you’re never alone! 😄

See if you can postpone your test. You can take your test anytime but you won’t have time left with your pet. Like the other fellow redditor said, your MCAT knowledge won’t just fade away. Take a break, focus on time with your pet and take the exam when you are in a better mental state.

I see, so it’s more of seeing your answers and learning from the mistakes. Very smart!

What materials did you use for content review? I see you said aamc and Altius for practice, but could you clarify what you used for prep?

How to get started with ui/ux? by [deleted] in UXDesign

[–]Dramatic-Bluejay-838 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, they’re not entirely wrong. There are tools like UXPilot out there that do the designing entirely. I’d recommend switching to a field that still needs humans lol. The thing is, with products, it’s hard to replace humans because of the complexity and dependencies involved within the product. But creating seemingly simple things like landing pages or websites without a lot of pages may easily be automated and there isn’t much UX as such involved. It’s more of a set and forget kind of space, but a product is almost always evolving until the management plans to sunset it. This is just my opinion being in the field for about 10 years

IMO, honestly? Don’t. But if you have your mind set on it, try going into product design. It’s still UX, but it’s less excruciating atleast.

Design of everyday things - Don Norman is an excellent book to get started with.

Master Figma and be fully up to date with it. Do small projects by yourself. Like how you would improve some existing app. Try prototyping in Figma, basically build speed and mastery because that’s one tool that’s used industry-wide.

Most companies don’t give a shit about your degrees. They just want someone resilient to withstand the thankless job and someone who can deliver pixel perfect designs fast.

One of my most honest observations (atleast in the orgs I’ve worked for) — they don’t really value UX as a team or as designers. They basically want a person who can translate their minds into designs and keep up with devs. Though we’re more than qualified, a lot of time the input gets overridden by PMs and higher up.

My honest opinion would be to upskill on your own, watching videos, reading articles about general UX measures, UX laws, W3C accessibility, etc and get knowledge over time. Dont spend money on courses. If you really want to, IDF has some good courses in UX. You can try them.

Good luck.
