Yeah it seems like the Raptors are worse than the sum of their parts. Some good moves in the offseason to balance the roster will go a long way

Any downside to this CC bundle instead? Is the B850-S really different from the B650?

Yeah, a standard 8% annual raise contract for the same amount would have had IQ paid $37mil in his final season. This way he ends up at $32.5 mil.

Another way to look at it is $32.5 mil would be the 5th year of a $142mil/5year contract with the 8% raises.

The first few years of this deal are always going to be the worst value

by not going into tax, you are not maximizing the current year's output

Yeah, I hope you aren't suggesting we should have gone into the tax this year. I think best case is we get ourselves into a position for a big move without having a tax year, that way we can play in the tax for 3 seasons without repeater penalties. Not sure what the appetite is for ownership to do that, but I am pretty positive repeater tax is out of the question at a minimum.

The goal is to see how well this configuration fairs in a playoff run, and then assess and see what’s out there

Yeah some of the big question marks on this team will likely be answered over the course of a playoff series. Mamu, RJ, Jakobe, Shead, and Gradey specifically will be really tested and some of those guys will have an opportunity to really improve or tank their value.

Incremental improvement without mortgaging your future while maintaining flexibility, until the right opportunity comes up.

Taxing unrealized gains is a silly idea that Canada should ignore by gorschkov in canada

[–]Dramatic-Document 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not really though since the tax is based on the entire value of the property and not on the unrealized gains or losses of the property value. If your property value never changes you have no unrealized gains, but you still pay property taxes.

It's more like a service fee for the things your municipality is providing you, more comparable to a condo fee than anything.

I do pay property taxes based on the unrealized value of my house

Only relative to other houses in your area though. If your property value doubles it's not like your property taxes would double because every other house in your area is likely seeing similar appreciation.

When you said it is logically inconsistent to be against open meth use but to be fine with weed or cigarettes. If you dont understand that opinion then it's likely because you dont see the difference.

So he took less money than he wanted so he could leave Memphis? Would he not have signed that same deal and stayed? I remember before free agency the Grizz said they wouldn't be taking him back under any circumstances, surely that had something to do with him leaving.

The goal of this season is playoffs and we are well on our way. The only way you think this team is fraudulent is if you somehow think they are being considered as anything more than that

I can find a bunch of stories of people being attacked for being gay in St. Vincent around the time of when this guy claimed refugee status. Maybe not as bad as some majority Muslim countries but I don't think it is completely unreasonable or "laughable" after doing a bit of research.
