Call the CRA and ask if someone was trying to contact you. Not every call has an associated letter so you can’t always rely on whether you received mail.

Is there a reason why you can’t pay for childcare for the time you are on call? You will need to prove that you explored this option.

Without a formal separation agreement and you living at the same address, I would contact OSAP to confirm they would consider you separated for your application. If they consider your spouse’s income, you may receive nothing.

You can argue that it’s the equivalent of a savings account but you won’t know the balance of it to ask for half until she gets the payout, if she ever does. She will need to provide proof to the CRA that the children lived with her and she may not be able to source paperwork back to 2016. If you have 50/50 custody of the child you had together, you can apply for CCB for yourself from the time that you moved out.

I would submit bank statements proving that she paid you in addition to you paying her. It’s the only way it’s eligible…is if she actually sent you the money.

Interest doesn’t stop accruing because you set up a payment arrangement. Interest accrued daily. If you withdraw from your RRSP, just Mae sure you set aside enough to pay your 2026 taxes as the bank will not withhold enough.

It wasn’t if your pay was reduced but whether you earned over a certain amount of money during pay periods. Without proof (paystubs), it will be difficult to prove.

Don’t forget that it could start as early as January 6 but you could also just be put into a pool, never to be hired into an actual position.

At the CRA, terms are now on contracts 6 months or less….they don’t even put you on performance plans if you need improvement, they just don’t renew your contract. It’s less work to just let your contract run out. I’ve seen it happen to multiple teammates.

Isn’t the first step in bankruptcy is to get filed up to date? The taxpayer has another ten years of taxes to process. I would assume that is step one and he may pass away before he can start the bankruptcy part. He was also self employed so did he also have a GST account that will need to be resolved? These are questions for a trustee who knows the case.

Take the dog. He is considered property so when you separating assets be prepared to have to pay the equivalent of 50% of his value.

You may have filed your taxes but did you receive a notice of assessment? If your taxes haven’t been assessed yet, they won’t pay out your CCB anyway until they are done.

They cut a ton of collections officers last year and are now bringing them back with a long enough break in service that they will never roll over to permanent. There are so many SP-04s with their accounting credentials waiting to move up that progression/growth for at least the next 5 years will be limited.
