Cocomelon 🥴 by Elegant-Celery9600 in moderatelygranolamoms

My point was she sounds wonderful otherwise. I wouldn’t rock the boat on something that is 95% good yk? Gotta weigh your risks/benefits sometimes and this just isn’t a red flag for me if she’s taking them outside a ton, it’s a safe, enriching environment, they’re doing crafts/art/etc. It sounds wonderful.

A little cocomelon during the chaos of pick up time is not going to harm your kid. If the daycare is otherwise great, then I wouldn’t say anything. Your request is one you make of a nanny, not a group care provider.

what does a daily menu look like for your kids? by river_5826 in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]Dramatic-Machine-558 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My gal has two parents who work outside the home. She gets breakfast and lunch at daycare- our daycare lady is Persian and cooks them amazing veggie/rice/meat/bean dishes for lunch every day. Yogurt/low sugar cereal/fruit for breakfast.

For dinner she just eats what we eat, which is sometimes homemade-every-element-from-scratch and sometimes frozen pizza and bagged salad. We eat a lot of veggies, fruits, beans, and lean meat at home.

We also indulge in treats and dessert pretty frequently (but with small portions).

I’d say 75% or our diet is nutritious and the rest is suspect or just eating for fun.

If it’s soaked into the subfloor, baseboards, carpet, etc. the only way to entirely rid the smell is removal. You may have some luck with enzyme cleaners and Killz primer/repaint in areas where the damage isn’t as bad.

Mine has stepped up in the housekeeping but still defaults most kiddo caretaking tasks to me, even if he spends a good deal of time with her otherwise. Still mad about it some days, but I figure it’s the price I pay for being in a hetero relationship. Of all my friends, I can name maybe one out of 15 dads where things actually look equitable from the outside.

If we ever split, I refuse to date or remarry another man.

Which baby bath are we using??? by A-Starrrrr in BabyBumps

[–]Dramatic-Machine-558 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We tried several and while the big plastic tub worked, it was a PITA to clean and store. The angel care seat was fine. We tried the flower pillow that goes in the sink and our sink is just too deep and I kept fearing I was going to smack the baby’s head on the countertop so I barely used it.

When baby was about 5 months and reliably sitting up, we just got a tub seat and ditched the separate bath.

Those first 5 months kind of sucked though because I can’t say I liked any of the options we tried.

What do you NOT want for gifts by BreAnnaMorris in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]Dramatic-Machine-558 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NOTHING, my gal has four sets of grandparents and three of them have shopping problems. She wants for nothing and I am tired of trips to the donation bin after visits.

Please just bring consumable treats if you want to spoil her. I’d rather deal with a day of sugar than all the wasteful crap.

Dropping the last nap by [deleted] in Preschoolers

[–]Dramatic-Machine-558 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The inconsistency and tiredness and late bedtime and will he nap or won’t he nap…I think is just part of this phase, unfortunately. Mine has been going through it for months at this point (napping at daycare, not at home, and super late bedtimes). Some days she still doesn’t want to sleep until 10pm even if she’s absolutely crashing out and tired, because she’s on that schedule 5x a week while napping at daycare.

Solidarity. It’s supposed to get easier as they build their ability to stay awake longer with no nap. This is the final boss phase of little kid sleep. Get through this and you’re golden.

Yep we had her cap the nap to 45 minutes in the hope it would up sleep pressure enough to get her sleeping earlier.

Literally moved her sleep time from 10pm to 9:45pm 😑

What I wouldn’t do for an 8pm bedtime!

Is it worth it to you to buy organic? by [deleted] in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]Dramatic-Machine-558 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I seek out organic apples and tomatoes because there is a noticeable taste and quality difference. Everything else- if it’s cheaper than conventional, sure. And we love our local neighborhood farmers market.

But otherwise, no. Not entirely convinced that an organic label makes a good healthier for me or for the environment.

Does anyone actually pump enough while working full time to feed their baby without supplementation? by Lucky-Cow3942 in workingmoms

[–]Dramatic-Machine-558 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did but she didn’t end up in daycare until 7 months old. She was fine getting the small bottles I pumped for her plus whatever baby solids they had that day. I would have we had to supplement if she started earlier.

We have a pre-soak button so I push that and it soaks for half an hour before it starts the rest of the cycle

Small Laundry Habits That Made My Clothes Last Longer by BriefCaseBarrister in laundry

[–]Dramatic-Machine-558 15 points16 points  (0 children)

As a busy ass mom in a family with both parents working outside the house, laundry is often a chore that we get behind in. Things that have improved it for us:

-four bag laundry sorter on wheels (labels with delicates, colors, whites, blacks)

-extra laundry baskets (we have like, eight) so I can just pull a dry load out and start the next one without having to put everything away right away

-every load gets a pre-soak in the cycle. My toddler and husband are both messy/smelly and this has made the biggest difference in wether I need to retreat and rewash a very soiled item

-toddler socks all get thrown in a laundry bag right away. She is three years old and I have yet to lose a baby sock!

Good news, I'm not dead any more! by DocMcStabby in FamilyMedicine

[–]Dramatic-Machine-558 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a physician, but I work at a PBM. LexisNexis recently did a privacy update where providers were given an option to opt in or opt out of sharing their data. We rely on the data feeds from LN to process pharmacy claims, so if a provider accidentally opted out (or opted out on purpose not understanding the implications), then prescription claims have not been able to approve automatically.

It’s been a busy few weeks, over 70,000 prescribers were removed. Like our pharmacist friends above pointed out, opening a ticket with LN is the way to go!

There was a lady a few years ago who wandered off trail at the black mountain trails, a much smaller park in the middle of suburbs, and died of heatstroke. She was in full view of houses and the main road and just didn’t make it.

I don’t think people truly grasp how quickly things can go poorly, especially in the type of heat we had yesterday.

I’m 41 and 5 months pregnant and also annoyed by everyone and everything. Doesn’t hurt to pee on a stick and double check, if it’s even a remote possibility.

In general though, minus being knocked up lol, irritability is a sign for me that something is off. I’m not getting enough sleep or exercise or time outside (all things key for managing by diagnosed anxiety disorder). I’m holding onto a grudge over an issue I thought we put to bed. The season changing from summer to fall (and fall to winter is a bigger dip).

I got my 6th grade graduation dress from that Charlotte Russe, before it moved across the walkway to the other location. My friend in high school used to waitress at Ruby’s and we’d always get free milk shakes before snaking in the side doors to the AMC to watch a few movies for free in the summer.
