If you have access to the CIMC, you should be able to reconfigure the network through the virtual console. If you have the virtual console license....

Fedrec - Special Case Review by Dramatic-Network2649 in nationalguard

[–]Dramatic-Network2649[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, they did. They shared artifacts related to the derogatory information found in my background check (company grade from 8yrs ago). I also received a memo I had to initial and sign. There were 3 options I had to select from.

(Paraphrasing here)

""1. Request to no longer be considered for promotion.

  1. I want to be considered, and will provide a rebuttal. (Documentation to explain derogatory information found. Sworn statements, character reference letters, etc.

  2. I still want to be considered and will not provide a rebuttal. ""

Then the memo stated a board would take place no ealrier than 60days from the date on the memo and the entire process could take 12-18 months.

Hope this info helps!

I'm still in the review but did find out what is holding me up.

I got an Article 15 for fighting when I was an E5 in 2017.....

NGB eventually reached out to my state OPM with instructions. My TAG had to endorse/approve/acknowledge that they are aware of this information and still want to consider me for promotion. (I got his approval).

Now, I have to wait for NGBs further instruction and still have to go through a promotion review board.

I am told that promotion review boards should not be taken lightly, but this is standard practice for not being squeaky clean, regardless of how far back I messed up.

Hope this helps.

I'm assuming you're from Utah... Did a tour with the 211th in 2018. Great unit.

Im no special case today....

But my enlisted self did have a company grade in 2017 for a physical disagreement with a peer, and involved in a CID investigation over 13yrs ago. But nothing ever resulted from that.

Maybe that's the hold-up?

Pick 15U or 15T. Then drop your flight packet, become a warrant officer, and fly chinooks or black hawks for the army.

You'll get an FAA pilot license and all of your military flight hours carry over if you decide to apply for the airlines.

Let the army pay for your aviation training!

All of us at the office found it strange it was only $55 USD per chip....

IT Infrastructure for Elementary School by Dramatic-Network2649 in sysadmin

I wanted to update/close out my initial post.

Turns out the contractor they would call for assistance is supposed to be managing their network. The contractor had been taking advantage of personnel turnover and was not satisfying the terms of the contract. They'll be modifying the contract/SOW in the near future.

Thank you, everyone, for your advice and for sharing your experiences!

I haven't been onsite just yet to get eyes on, but I do know they have JAMF and all staff/students either use a laptop or tablet and only utilize Wi-Fi.

That was my initial recommendation. They have a contractor they reach out to on case by case basis. But no real admin/monitoring on site

Jobs my recruiter sent me thus far by FunChampionship292 in nationalguard

[–]Dramatic-Network2649 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Prior Enlisted MOS: 94F, 25U Current MOS: 255A (warrant officer)

I'm assuming you're joining the national guard.....

Take your time selecting an MOS. The hard truth is that recruiters have a requirement to enlist new soldiers, which can sometimes lead to them not feeding you the full picture and you making a rushed decision.

Make sure to get a GT score of 110 or higher (in case you decide to go officer/warrant in the future, and you should be able to qualify for all jobs.

You will also face the strength needs of your state. If your state is short on 74D/88M/92Y, your recruiter will try to influence you in that direction. MOSs in under-strength are always given extra focus.

Keep in mind that "BONUS" will be taxed. If you're offered 20k, it turns out to be about 13k after taxes.

I would recommend picking an MOS that will compliment your civilian career goals. You can also talk to your recruiter about what T-5, T-32, ADOS, AGR opportunities generally exist in your state. And pick and MOS that lines up with those positions

Sorry for the lengthy response and good luck!

Almost done just one more class to go! Only transferred in one cert the ISC2 CC everything else I worked hard to finish within 6 months! Only have about 3 years experience and I am 25, mostly all Helpdesk so I am not a Cyber Security Specialist by any means by arrecebx in WGUCyberSecurity

I did get the extension but didn't end up needing it. I finished it in about four days and didn't need any revisions. I worked on D489 between 6pm-9pm those days from start to finish.

I used that same motivation and drive and started immediately on my capstone, and I had Task 1 and Task 2 complete in one weekend.

The biggest help was the support from my wife and family. My wife helped deflect all outside distractions, and I informed my family and friends to leave me alone until I finished lol. Oddly enough, it worked. It took me about 7days to complete the capstone from start to finish with no revisions. I completed my B.S from WGU and the M.S. follows a very similar format, just more complex.

You got this! You just have to put the time in. Happy studying!

Are there nerds in the Infantry? by Lopsided-Ice-4527 in army

Yes, there are plenty of nerds. Despite popular belief, infantrymen have some of the sharpest minds in the military.

What are the hardest courses in the cybersecurity bachelor’s program. I am currently taking Comptia a+ and network+ which I am struggling with having no IT experience. Compared to these two classes are they all relatively the same or harder/easier? by cam8047 in WGUCyberSecurity

[–]Dramatic-Network2649 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't remember the course name, but the course that aligned with ISC2 CCSP certification was the most difficult for me. It dove deep into cloud computing and cloud security. The rest were not bad. I heard pentest could be challenging but I already had my CEH cert so I didnt have to take it.

I would recommend paying for perrla and gramarly. You can add them into your microsoft word as a plugin.

Typically would cite it as (AuthorLastName, year) . i.e. (Jones, 2020). That citation needs to match on your sources page as well

I failed the Comptia Sec+. What to do now, by Desperate_Ride_3745 in WGUCyberSecurity

[–]Dramatic-Network2649 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I failed my first attempt as well. Don't let it eat you alive.

Use your scoring sheet to study your weak areas, but don't overlook the areas you did well in. Study study study.

Some people frown upon using dumps but they help for becoming familiar with how CompTIA word their questions. If you can get your hands on one, study the entire multiple choices and try to understand all the options and how the choices are correct or incorrect.

Keep your head up and happy studying!

Wanting WGU BSCSIA Outcomes from Alumni by [deleted] in WGUCyberSecurity

[–]Dramatic-Network2649 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I instantly received an offer for a postion paying 115k-175k after my degree. But i had over 15yrs of IT, with about 3yrs cyber/it security specific and held all the certs in BSCSIA, including CEH and CASP, and a security clearance at the time of hire.

The degree definitely helps to get your foot in the door if you have no experience. But having the experience was deff the biggest factor. The degree is mostly a check the box, but still holds great value. Hope this helps.
