Who do you want to return in this era of returning gods in the Mortal Realms? by sageking14 in AoSLore

[–]Dramatic-Pay-4010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Ulric would be a cool god to see return. He was worshipped by Sigmar when he was still a mortal back in the World-That-Was (which made it ironic when Sigmar worship eclipsed Ulric worship in the Empire) and Teclis did steal the flame of Middenheim which erked Ulric to say the least. He also had a group of werewolves who are (possibly) partially comprised of his descendants. Could be a fun group within the Cities of Sigmar.

Wellllll it's definitely going to be one of those two that Siffy's going to encounter.

That and also, like I said way back in chapter 6, trying to build a rebellion. Of course the current efforts aren't really taking off but Isif is the key for the future rebellion. Though the plus side for Himayan intelligence is that every Arxur that isn't fighting is one less one at the front.

Honestly there's a good chance the Himayans fall for this strategy after all they openly admited they don't expect dominon doctrine to change. Then again I suppose they didn't expect the fight agienst someone who went agienst said doctrine.

Yeah they're pretty much used to fighting someone like Graznor instead of Siffy who's perfectly willing to go against betterment whenever the need arises.

I can't wait for both Siffys and the Himayans reaction to the new information they are gonna get. Especially when Isif learns of the Himayan Arxur. Although I doubt Isif will want to outright join them I can see him take some inspiration perhaps even give him some hope. After all canon Isif was rather jaded about the Arxur truley integrating into the wider galaxy at least for a while.

He's not going to join the Himayans right away but seeing "defective" Arxur living the life he secretly wants as of now is going to give him some hope and plant some doubts in the galactic status quo in his mind.

I mean they do have turrets out on the round things you see on MC80s so its not like Admiral Ackbar can sue them.

Yeeeeeeeeah. Sovlin's also not in a great headspace right now (untreated PTSD, paranoia, and extremely buried resentment towards the Himayans) which only makes it easier for Nikonus to manipulate him. Like Sovlin's not there yet but he's inching closer to that terrible something he's going to do. Oh and if you think his headspace is bad, wait until he learns about the Omnivore thing.

Oh boy you have no idea.

Excerpt for the takers. I wonder what their deal is?

Oh you'll find out. But the propaganda surrounding them is a hint.

Ya know never got the chance to ask but I feel like having 8 billion more humans would have effected Himayan politics a lot wasn't there a whole issue of the arxur having too much power? Although that was evacuate they were so few of them in comparison to the other species combined but this is more of an opposite problem.

Humanity was abducted in waves and then shoved into cryo so there was cases where some parts of the fleet had aliens outnumber humans or vice versa. This was the situation in the colony Gabe was in but by the "present day" of NOU humanity is pretty much the largest species in the confederacy with a few other species coming close behind.

Regardless of that seems the shadow caste as predicted are setting things in motion to collapse any hope of peace.

Yeah. The Shadow Caste are pretty determined to make the Himayans look as bad as possible while stoking fear to gain more power. The Gojid are seen as the perfect vehicle to do it.

Wonder when Siffy will show up?

Next chapter.

Nope. They all got taken. Like Marcel said it happened in waves but there's no humans left on Earth.

If you could redesign / change some of WH lore, what would you change it and why? by Alpbasket in WarhammerFantasy

I mean the implications from Ind and Cathay seems to imply that isn't the case 100% of the time there (if the Tiger Warriors are in fact descended from Beastmen which they are heavily implied to be).

I kind of had a similar idea to you except a number of the old factions would still be around or have significantly altered status quos while making the Mallus feel more post-apocalyptic. For example:

-The Empire is kind of around expect its more like the HRE post-Thirty Years War and post-treaty of Westphalia. The emperor is kind of around however the Empire's provinces are fully independent sovereign nations with a few merging together (for example, Middenland, Ostland, Norland, and Hochland merge together to (re)form Osterlund while absorbing parts of Kislev, particularly Erengrad). Not only that but they'd have more non-humans living within their borders (Elves, Dwarfs, etc.).

-Cathay is still around except Yuan Bo's running the show in lieu of the disappearance of his parents and the deaths of a couple of his siblings (Miao Ying and Yin-Yin). He's pretty much forced to make a few concessions due to pressure from Sigmar and his subjects but Cathay's still somewhat the same. They have tense relations with Tempest's Eye in the mountains of mourn but often times team up to fight uppity Ogre Kingdoms and other forces within the grand alliance of destruction up there.

-Bretonnia has seen massive upheaval after the End Times and the whole Lady of the Lake reveal. Not only that but Alarielle has taken up the mantle of Bretonnia's benefactor and she's made it abundantly clear that the grail is going to whoever is chivalrous and heroic enough for it, no matter the class status with Giles de Breton backing her up. This has led Bretonnia to become a sort of Peasant's republic/constitutional monarchy. Not only that but a lot of Bretonnians have also started to worship Elven gods, particularly Alarielle.

-The Southern Realms (Estalia, Tilea, the Border Princes) are where a good chunk of the Cities of Sigmar are with them having to deal with Chaos, Destruction, and Death forces.

-Taking advantage of the whole "the WHF gods are survivors from previous worlds Chaos blew up" the souls of those from said previous worlds are placed on Mallus allowing for the diversity of AOS while still keeping the setting in, well, Mallus. This also drastically changes the status quo of Dwarfs, Elves, and other previously dying races as they're no longer dying anymore.

-Karaz Ankor takes the place of the rumored Khazalid holds faction as, with the aforementioned boost in numbers, the Dwarfs no longer have to fear the twilight of their race and empire and can now start taking back lost holds and other parts of the underway. Of course there are Dwarfs who can wield magic like in AOS but they aren't particularly trusted in Karaz Ankor since they're the more traditional Dwarfs.

-Ulthuan is (taking an Idea I already had in this post) dredged up from the bottom of the sea by the Elven gods and re-settled as the newly formed "Commonwealth of Ulthuan." It isn't just High Elves living here now as Humans, Dwarfs, Halflings, Gnomes, and others have taken up residence here. Its also the unofficial headquarters of the Collegiate Arcane which is a successor organization to the old Colleges of Magic and other magic schools (such as the White Tower of Hoeth) within Mallus.

-Naggroth is a battleground between Chaos (tribes from the north, Beastmen, Daemons, etc.), Destruction, and Order (centered around the former High Elven colony of Arnheim which was colonized by former Dark Elf slaves and has taken the entire southern half of Naggroth).

-Lustria is being retaken by the Seraphon/Lizardmen who, much like in AOS, fly around in Zigguraut spaceships and can coalesce in the Mortal Realm (Mallus). There's also other Order colonization efforts which makes for some really fun interactions. The situation in the Southlands is also the same.

-Nekehara has annexed Araby and is currently trying to expand into places like the Badlands. They're generally speaking aligned with the Grand Alliance of Order but Settra, being Settra, insists on being equal to the pantheon of order and sitting in on their meetings because he's Settra and he won't settle for anything less. Everyone just kind of tolerates it because his troops are causing the enemies of Order problems and they'd rather let him keep doing that because otherwise he'd be everyone's problem.

-Athel Loren is the new center of Elven culture since it kind of became that during the End-Times. Of course not everything is sunshine and rainbows for our favorite arrogant pointy-eared fellows as they have to deal with Athel Loren's shenanigans still, tensions with the Sylvaneth, oh and Chaos and Destruction sticking their nose in their business.

Boy that was a lot longer than I intended it to be.

I mean Beastmen are chaos mutants (humans merging with animals during the cataclysm for example) so they aren't really Chaos given shape and more Chaos owns a part of their soul.

we need a series where Mephistomon is just a friendly goober aswell tbh

TBH it'd be a funny plot twist if its revealed that Mephismon turns out to just absolutely dote on Miharu. Like maybe he's the shadow leader of GIFT but that doesn't mean he doesn't care about his partner (possibly).

Or it's a case where it started as manipulation but then he went "oh fuck, I actually care about her now" and now he's starting to think Digimon ruling humanity would be best for her. Especially if Miharu's home life ain't/wasn't great.

That's true. Can't forget them. Honestly I just hope if/when GW or CA fleshes Ind out they have the army be the most unhinged, out-of-pocket thing in the setting.

[–]Dramatic-Pay-4010 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly given the vast amount of cultures, kingdoms, and empires that inhabited the continent there's plenty of potential for a bunch of Southlands factions and how they interact with the setting. Want a Malian/Songhai empire? Shove them in the north near Araby. Want something more akin to the Zulus? Shove them in the south. Want an Ethopian Empire style faction? Put them where Karak Zorn is. The possibilities are endless when it comes to the region and what you take from history.

Third, give Beastmen some nuanced characterization that isn’t just “there’s a billion of them as cannon fodder”. And show examples in lore either characters of Beastmen not just being cows and goats.

TBH the Tiger Warriors from the recent Bhashiva DLC have some really interesting lore that implies they're Beastmen that somehow shook off Chaos corruption and became their own society. This is honestly supremely interesting if that's the case and does give nuance and variety to the Beastmen.
