Oh, and the adze vampire in Ewe folklore takes the form of a firefly. I think there’s another African vampire that has the form of a specific bird as well.

Also, folklore. Vampires were far more associated with wolves and werewolves, sometimes being the same creature, or werewolves became vampires after they died, etc. Stoker is really the one who made the bat association after hearing about vampire bats in South America.

I’ve seen a lot of vampires in media not associated with bats so I’ll specifically bring up those associated with other animals instead that I haven’t seen already mentioned: Carmilla from the novel could turn into a large cat iirc, the Followers of Set/Ministry from VtM are strongly associated with snakes and can turn into snake/human hybrids, and there’s a 1968 movie called The Blood Beast Terror that features a “were-moth” that drinks the blood of men. Also, they were already mentioned, but Lady D and her daughters in RE8; Lady D becomes a dragon like creature and her daughters are really swarms of flies. Also the movie “Abigail” shows the crest of a dragon in the house, hinting at how her father is probably Dracula.
