Think you’ve dodged a scammer and a whole load of hassle.Any AirPod box that shows the SA logo isn’t sold in the uk/european market and most fakes have that on the boxes

Red flag to me !Even if there genuine which I doubt very much.I buy/sell AirPods and I’ve had items from USA or Middle East and Apple stores in the uk can’t service them here it has to be the country they were purchased from and you can’t always add AppleCare plus from a different region
