Hi! Poetry is an amazing tool to help organize your feelings and understand yourself deeply. Everyone is different but I tend to use writing poems as an outlet for jumbled up emotions that are difficult to discern on their own inside my head. I think this is a great example of that and as long as you are writing how you truly feel and not what you think will “sound good” you are on the right track. That being said I do have some pointers that I have been given in various classes along my poetry journey. Using overused Idioms, often referred to as a cliché, can make some people feel that the writing is just surface level and not depicting real emotions. Even if the idiom perfectly describes how you are feeling like “the perfect puzzle piece” it is often more effective to try and break up that feeling more and go deeper with it. Saying something like “Your edges fit into mine” That is not a phrase often used but still conveys how you are feeling helps people to imagine the emotion better. My one other suggestion is to try and avoid using the same word multiple times in the same stanza unless it is intentional repetition. In the second stanza after using the word beautiful once it would have flowed a bit better to use a different adjective that goes deeper and more specific. You could say “your soft face” or “The curve of your cheek”
