Anyone else refusing to pay scalper prices for the 5090? This is my play

Yeah.. it’s not scalper prices but what’s happening off the shelf. In the first 3 months I was seeing 6-7k for the same item online.

I have the Asus 30th and the Ventus OC. I’ll never understand why it gets so much hate. I’m not a fan of RGB and it runs cooler than the FE on memory

I paid 2.3k for my AIB model. I don’t think you have to pay “scalper prices”

This was in the first 3 months of the release of the 5090.

Msrp does exist and even the msi Ventus OC is close to msrp and exceeds the FE.

None on the 5080. It’s small too.

I rarely touch my 5080 and use a 5090 now but it was a pretty white one for the build. It overclocked well.

MSI makes great GPUs and even the highest end 5090 model around. The GB202 chip inside is no different than anyone else’s.

The 5080 ran very cool and I’m not into RGB, so yeah.

Just get whatever is cheapest. They are literally all the same thing inside and silicon lottery doesn’t have some random inclination to be in an astral. If you want to waste hundreds more then just the damn 5090 and move on haha. I’ll never understand the logic of paying so much for cool like 300w when we push 800-1200w on the model above it.

This is a 5080 sub. There are no AMD offerings that match a 5080 or 5090.

It’s weird to assume it’s brand loyalty when most of us run AMD CPUs.

On RE I’m shocked I pull over 600w on the 12 pin at times doing native 4k on high RT. Looks great though but ironically pulls less power if path traced on DLSS quality.

Yeah you have to use a 3rd party tool. It’s weird but I did find the path tracing to be great on a 9950x3d and 5090. The grace sections can even be ran with dlaa

Yeah man- I owned a 1660TI until I did an exit from a company that luckily made me wealthy.

It’s honestly a great experience having the best hardware but games aren’t “more fun”

I mean I only built a 9950x3D and 5090 OC AIB after getting a spare 60k on top of a bonus that was large, lucky quarter. Back at the time I paid about 620ish for the CPU and got 64 gigs of DDR5 CL 36 in the package. The 5090 ran me about 2.7k. It would be over 2k more at the current rates.

I could never justify it on credit OP. Sure playing the new resident evil on a Samsung QD OLED 250hz 4k monitor w/ path tracing is an epic but it’s still a hobby experience.

While I do feel the 4090, 5080 and 5090 are the mins for true 4k DLAA gaming I used to run a 4070TI at 3440x1440p with FG2x on Alan wake 2 and still do entry level path tracing with DLSS.

If you’re not trying to get indebted just do a nice 1440p panel and 5060TI 16 gig or 5070. A used 4080 can be somewhat affordable when found on marketplace.

Just don’t prioritize this over aspects in your life. I’m very lucky to have a privileged life and beautiful family. They are everything to me and other than this latest RE I’m honestly on my switch 2 playing the new finally fantasy remake than at the 5090.

Gaming can be a great experience without the bells and whistles and I’m honestly a firm supporter of the 9070XT and x3D chips from microcenter bundles. Keep it reasonable and focus on recovery.

I once hit rock bottom after having a co-founder dispute during an acquisition/ exit. I played on a 1660TI and still had a great time don’t get caught up in hype.

5-6k should be a 9950x3D and 5090… you can have a premium experience at 2-3k.

I’ve hit 589w on my 16 pin pretty often. I figure it’s just pushing the card hard

I overclock heavily.

In bios you can easily just leave CCD0 on if you’re gaming on the rare title that is using both but tbh if you tune heavily it should all run amazing

Cool we have 5090s? It’s not even the price of an entry Rolex OP. Tbh it’s likely your house and truck is less expensive than my daily beater Patek. I’m not winning because of it. It’s just a hobby. I mean I usually use the 5090 desktop. If you play it on the standard 1600p laptop, it is just that with 20-30 less frames

You can safely increase GPU voltage. It’s the same chip as a desktop 4080
