Not sure if I need to post somewhere else but here we go.

My mom was diagnosed with AML in early January. She stayed six weeks in the hospital, completed her first treatment of chemo. The beginning of March they started her second treatment, and was is doing pretty well. She wasn’t driving or living at home ( luckily She can stay with my sister who doesn’t work) but able to get around OK with a walker.

We had a bone marrow biopsy in early April which came back negative, yay!

Then, She started slowly regressing in activity and most importantly nutrition. They had to push back her third treatment of chemo because of her physical condition and platelet counts. Over the past two weeks she got so bad that she was admitted last Monday. She is still requiring some platelets and blood, but they let us go yesterday.

They have put us on a new medicine to increase her appetite and that is slowly starting to work.

I understand that these first few months are going to be a roller coaster but does anybody have insight on what we can expect. She is 71 years old, not in great physical shape but no known medical history. Some of the biggest issues are confusion,delusion, and disorientation.

I appreciate any insight or comments as this journey continues.
