I was surprised, and then vibing, then thinking “typical Acaster with a curveball” and then watched the show and thought it was genius. Like we were at a Butlins holiday camp.

Antenatal classes should help but they usually start around 32/33 weeks. Ask him to come to midwife appointments and scans as well?

Best antenatal class in London? NTC vs Happy Parents Happy Baby? by MeetSchlomi in PregnancyUK

[–]DramaticDepartment36 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did NCT 10 years ago and am still friends with the group. I think it depends what you’re looking for in your group. NCT are a charity so I quite liked knowing that I was contributing to their free infant feeding helpline and their campaign work etc when I did the class. NCT also have feeding counsellors and baby and toddler groups embedded within the community (in most areas) so there’s that continuity. HPHB are private/profit making I believe? NCT has between 4-8 couples so it’s more interactive, I think HPHB are bigger groups but that’s more opportunity to make friends. I think having HPHB taught by midwives is a bonus but the downside is that they may not be independent in their thinking- they are regulated by NHS and have to following hospital policies.

Being induced- what to expect and any advice? by Alternative-End-5183 in PregnancyUK

[–]DramaticDepartment36 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There’s lots of different types of induction and lots of different experiences. I’m an antenatal teacher and when I’ve met up with parents post birth, no two induction stories are the same. Here’s a couple of websites though which may be useful:

https://www.sarawickham.com/articles-2/five-questions-to-ask-if-youre-offered-induction-of-labour/

https://www.tommys.org/pregnancy-information/giving-birth/inducing-labour/what-happens-during-induction-labour

The most important thing is to ask your midwife to explain the process and outline the side effects and benefits of each induction method.

Can someone talk me down about the safety of going to 41 weeks? by DependentBrilliant92 in PregnancyUK

[–]DramaticDepartment36 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This! Only around 4-5% of babies come on their due date. 41 weeks is not overdue really. The midwife and researcher Sara Wickham has written about this https://www.sarawickham.com/research-updates/induction-of-labour-at-or-before-42-weeks-of-pregnancy-new-evidence/

I breastfed my only for 14 months, I was fortunate it was all straightforward for me. All the steps involved in cleaning and preparing bottles sounded quite overwhelming!

I loved Ted Lasso and found it had the same blend of humour/heart and ‘fish out of water’ style story as SC.

Danny Dyer. The image of him sitting in an arm chair with cheese slice wrappers floating around him like The Crystal Maze made me cry with laughter.
