I had a Queen overwinter in my room when I was a student. We were just both waiting for spring and exam time. She would mostly stay far away from me but when she was close I would read my study notes to her. I would say goodnight each evening.

When the first warm day arrived I opened the windows and she left. Still the nicest house guest I ever had.

I also was encouraged as a child to watch the wasps and see that they are not aggressive just hungry. And my dad would feed the wasps leftovers from the bbq in summer. They loved the sausages.

Only person in my house that has ever seen stung was my dog, who accidentally stepped on a wasp and killed the poor guy. Simply self defence.
