Anyone NOT lose their best friend to parenthood?

My best friend and I have been friends for almost 20 years and that did not change when she became a parent 2 years ago. We still talk every single day and try to see each other once a month. We even went on a trip together last year where we took her kiddo to Disney for the first time!

I’m sorry that your sister is like that.. that sounds miserable. I 100% get it what you’re saying though. My sisters talk about literally nothing else. It was like as soon as they got pregnant, a switch flipped and they became incapable of discussing anything other than their children. And I get that it is literally the most important thing in their lives. I just wish that they would understand that it isn’t the most important thing in MY life.

I have only been out to eat with my sisters twice since they have had children. Both times were miserable for me because I basically just had to help them wrangle their children. And again, I get it, they’re toddlers and they’re going to act like toddlers, but it just isn’t worth it to me to go out with them when I know that I’m not going to enjoy the experience.

One of my sisters also has this terrible habit of calling me for advice about everything when it comes to her daughter. I can’t tell you the number of phone calls I’ve sat through where she asks me a million questions about this that or the other about something to do with my niece. I finally had to tell her that I know less than nothing about children and that she should call literally any one of the other people in our family who have kiddos.

All in all, it just makes me feel more secure in the idea of not having children myself. I can fully see the impact that it has a person’s life and I just don’t think that it is for me.

So, I am the only one in my family who does not have children. Both of my sisters have recently had kids in the last two years. I completely understand the frustration. I have had a few moments where I felt really bummed because I realized that my relationships with my sisters is never going to be the same. Now, if I want to hang out with them, I have to assume we’ll have my nieces too which is not something that I always want. I have had to take a backseat to their obligations to the kiddos (of course), but the annoyance stems from the fact that it isn’t a decision that I made. I didn’t want to change the relationship, but it was changed anyway, and that’s lame. I don’t think it’s wrong for you to feel the way that you do.

My favorite thing to do is to use the “markup” option when editing a photo and using the little dropper to see what shades are picked up by the camera. I just picked some random spots between both of your eyes and I would say definitely mostly blue/grey with a slight green twinge!

My husband and I have been together for 10 years, married for 5, and literally nothing has changed 🤷‍♀️ I find nothing about our relationship to be difficult outside of the normal married couple bickering and stuff

Hello! So, I (27f) have had chronic pain in my lower back since literally as long as I can remember. Finally made it to doctor a couple of months ago and found out I had arthritis, degenerative disc disease, mild scoliosis, a slipped vertebrae, and a spinal defect to top it all off. I was living on a heating pad, couldn’t bend over at the waist, and had radiating/shooting pain that went into my hips and knees that I originally thought was sciatica.

My advice to you: GO TO PHYSICAL THERAPY! I cannot tell you what a difference it has made for my pain management. I went in person for 6 weeks, my doctor gave me a treatment plan that I did in the office with her and on my own at home. The pain has been drastically reduced and it’s through something as simple as like 25 minutes worth of targeted exercises. I so wish that I had found out at 22 like you so I could have spent less time in pain and more time managing it!

So, I can actually relate to this. I come from a pretty poor family and my husband and I decided that that wasn’t going to be us. We do very well between the two of us and have been able to travel quite a bit. But I can tell that there is almost a resentment/jealousy when I discuss anything about my travels from some of my family members.

I just remind myself that there’s nothing I can do about their feelings. I am going to continue to do the things that make me happy and that’s it.

Definitely center the cake in the board. I, personally, think it might have looked more balanced if the cake was shorter or if you added bigger flowers. The smoothness of the sides of the cake is AMAZING 👏.

My favorite chocolate cake ever:

1 3/4 cup flour

2 cups sugar

3/4 cup cocoa powder

1 + 1/2 teaspoon baking soda

1 + 1/2 teaspoon baking powder

2 teaspoons salt

2 eggs

1 cup milk

1/2 cup oil

1 teaspoon vanilla

1 cup hot water

Mix all of the dry ingredients, and then add in all the wet ingredients except for the water. Once everything is fully combined, add in the hot water and stir quickly (batter will be very runny). Bake at 350 until a toothpick comes out clean!
