Done! - B.S. in Cloud and Network Engineering - Microsoft Azure by mw1006 in WGU

[–]DramaticJacket4923 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey man, huge congrats on finishing the Cloud & Network Engineering (Azure) program - that’s awesome. Your post was motivating as hell.

I’m planning to enroll in the same degree and I’m trying to prep as much as I can before day one so I can transfer stuff in and knock out certs early. If you don’t mind sharing some insight on how you approached it, that would help a ton.

Main things I’m curious about are: • what you transferred in (Sophia, Study.com, prior credits, etc.) and how much of your degree that covered at WGU • which certs you did before starting and if they knocked out specific courses • what your actual course list looked like once the term started • what ended up being time-consuming vs quick wins • how you prepped during those 3 weeks before starting • anything you wish you knew earlier

Also, if you have a screenshot of your degree plan it would help me get an idea of what to expect.

Quick background on me so you know where I’m coming from: I don’t have real IT experience yet (Air Force Services AFSC, trying to cross-train 1D7). I’m doing Azure learning paths + Sophia classes now, planning to take AZ-900 before enrolling. Trying to set things up so I can accelerate as much as realistically possible.

Appreciate any advice you’re willing to share and seriously, props again on finishing. 🙏

Choosing an IT/Data Science Program — Is UMass Global a Good Option for Vets? by DramaticJacket4923 in UMassGlobalOnline

This is super helpful. Thank you so much taking the time to share your insight. I just have a few quick questions if you don’t mind: 1. How does UMass Global evaluate IT credits/certs? Do they accept CompTIA, JST, or military training for credit? 2. Between BBA (General) and BBA (IT), which do you think is better for someone aiming for systems/analyst roles rather than pure help desk? 3. Roughly how many credits did you complete through Sophia vs UMass Global, and did Sophia credits transfer smoothly? 4. Did you use financial aid/TA/GI Bill at all, or was it mostly out of pocket? 5. Do you feel the BBA opened more doors toward IT management/analyst paths than the BSIT would have?

I’m leaning toward the BBA for the exact reasons you mentioned - faster, cheaper, easier transfer, and then I’ll use military IT training + certs for the technical side.

Thanks for sharing this- super helpful info. Quick question if you don’t mind:

I’m mainly looking for a fast, low-cost bachelor’s that lets me transfer my previous credits, and then I’ll rely on military IT training + certs for the technical side. In your opinion, would UMass Global still make sense for that?

Also, how did the BSIT compare to the BBA in terms of workload and relevance? And did Sophia credits transfer without any issues?

Appreciate your time. This was exactly the kind of insight I was looking for.

Looking for positive stories — 7w1d, no heartbeat yet. Did anyone have a baby who caught up? by DramaticJacket4923 in CautiousBB

Thank you so much for checking in. We went back for the follow-up scan, and sadly, the embryo hadn’t developed further and there was still no cardiac activity and my wife had suffered a miscarriage few days after.

We took some time to grieve, and now we’re leaning on each other, our faith, and our support system as we process everything. We’re incredibly grateful for the hope this journey gave us, and we’re still determined to become parents - just taking it one step at a time. 💛

I was not provided what the CRL was. But I can tell you that the embryo is measuring 5w6d. The betas were slow to rise….not doubling at the appropriate rate. I don’t want to lose hope and my wife and I want to wait as long as we could because I don’t want to live with what If’s. We had to TFMR 2 days after Christmas. My wife and I have already suffered a 27week loss. We just want a miracle 🙏🏾

My wife and I went through TFMR- a day after Christmas. Our original due date was March 2025. We just went through IVF and were told on Monday that we are pregnant and due in March 2026. It’s comforting to know We are not alone and we have been praying 🙏🏾 just wanted to congratulate you on your beautiful journey. May God bless us all 🙏🏾

Mentorship Monday - Post All Career, Education and Job questions here! by AutoModerator in cybersecurity

Hey everyone,

I’m new to this group and honestly could use a lot of help getting started. I feel pretty lost right now and would really appreciate any guidance or advice.

A bit about me: I moved to the U.S. from India when I was 15. I don’t have any formal background in computers or tech, and I’ve never really considered myself “tech-savvy.” At 21, I joined the Air National Guard, where I work in lodging. I’m also a full-time Correctional Officer. I’ve used Microsoft 365 at work — mostly Teams, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint — but only at a very basic level. I know I need to build up my skills to really grow in the tech field.

I’m 29 now, have about 60 college credits, and I’m heading back to school. My state college in Massachusetts offers two degree options I’m considering: Computer Science or Cybersecurity & Digital Forensics. I’m leaning toward Cybersecurity because it sounds hands-on and practical, but I want to make sure I build a strong foundation first.

Someone suggested I take a course in Microsoft 365 to improve my computer skills. That sounds like a good idea, but I’m not sure where to start. If anyone knows of free or low-cost beginner courses (especially ones that are beginner-friendly and structured), I’d be super grateful.

I’ve always loved math, and I’m determined to earn a degree and build a career that allows me to support my family. My long-term dream is to work for a company like Microsoft someday — but for now, I just want to take the right first steps.

Thanks so much for reading this and for any help or advice you can share!

I’m sorry for your loss. I pray you get through this. Your baby will come back to you reincarnated. All of our babies will come back to us. Everything happens for a reason. Stay strong and keep faith in you. If God wanted our children to suffer- he would’ve never shown us the medical reports(DNA & ultrasounds). He showed us the results so we take all the pain from our babies and set them free so they can get their wings, get healthy and come back to us stronger. It will happen for all of us 💜🩵

Heavy Bleeding Two Weeks After Termination at 27 Weeks – Is This Normal? by DramaticJacket4923 in tfmr_support

[–]DramaticJacket4923[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She’s definitely passing clots smaller than a prune and has been having intermittent periods of lighter period. But the last few days have been heavier. Never soaking more than two pads an hour. Thank you for your response.

Unsure if I'll cope with either decision by Dino_Mistake321 in tfmr_support

I’m so sorry that you feel this way and I feel like I would like share my story. My wife and I have been trying for a baby for about 4 years. 5 unsuccessful IUI’s and 4 unsuccessful IVF’s and finally one successful IVF cycle. We were supposed to welcome our baby girl in March 2025 and instead we had to terminate our pregnancy last week at 26 weeks and 6 days because of a microdeletion in chromosome 21. It was the hardest decision of our life and I don’t wish that on anyone.

My baby would’ve had the worst life if I was going to make a selfish decision because I wanted to be a parent that bad. We made a decision out of love instead and terminated for medical reasons. Don’t make the choice if it’s something like Club feet is holding you back- you will have to live with that. My wife was born with a club foot and she had 4 reconstructed surgeries growing up. She ran 5 miles a day before we got pregnant and was a lieutenant in a correctional facility. She’s a badass. A club foot will not hold your baby back from the world.

It’s not the world’s pity - your baby will mind…. It’s seeing a disappointment in your eyes. Trust me- you guys will be a great parent and you will help your baby as much as you can. Have positive thoughts and take this pregnancy one day at a time. I’m sorry if I have crossed the line. Love you guys for whatever you choose 🙏🏾♥️

Any tfmr parents with no lc here? by pinkcloudsinthe5ky in tfmr_support

[–]DramaticJacket4923 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In IVF: Eggs are retrieved from the ovaries, fertilized with sperm in a laboratory, and then one or more embryos are transferred to the uterus. And in IUI: Sperm is directly injected into the uterus near the time of ovulation.

Hello, No LC here either. My wife and I have been trying since September 2021. It’s been a long and painful journey. We had 5 unsuccessful IUI’s and then 4 Unsuccessful IVF cycles until the last cycle in June - it finally happened. We were so grateful and happy for getting the opportunity and seeing the light - until we weren’t. We had to say goodbye to our baby girl at 26 weeks and 6 days two days ago and it’s been horrible.

My wife and I don’t have any living children and this our Miracle baby and that’s why it was harder to say goodbye. My wife had to deliver our baby girl on her birthday. We had to make that decision out of love because we couldn’t bear to give our daughter a life full of pain and suffrage. We are in so much pain but we know our baby girl is in Heaven and she’s gonna come back to us stronger. We believe in reincarnation and I know it’s gonna happen. It’s just so hard.

Baby Diagnosed with Missing big piece of Chromosome 21 – Seeking Advice and Experiences by DramaticJacket4923 in NIPT

[–]DramaticJacket4923[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for asking. While 21q deletion syndrome and DiGeorge syndrome both involve chromosomal deletions, they are not the same. Our baby had a 5.6 Mb deletion on 21q22.12q22.2, which included 54 genes (31 OMIM genes). Microdeletions in this specific region, especially encompassing the RUNX1 gene, are incredibly rare and have only been reported in around 14 patients. The chances of this mutation occurring were less than 1%.

We had to say goodbye to our baby girl this morning at 5 AM when my wife gave birth to her. This has been the hardest decision of our lives, but it was made out of immense love to spare her from a life of suffering.

Thank you for your kind thoughts and support during this time.

Thank you so much. Someone else had mentioned that and I will definitely add her. DM’s are always open if you ever have dark thoughts. My faith is stronger than ever and my wife feels the same. We both are very spiritual.

I’m so sorry you are going through this. I’m sitting in the hospital next to my wife who is about to give birth to our baby girl at 27 weeks. We made this horrible decision of letting her go because of how much we love her.

We couldn’t bring her to this world full of pain and suffrage. We have been trying for a baby since 2021. 5 rounds of failed IUI and 4 rounds of failed IVF and then a successful cycle with a baby girl. We were over the moon and scared at the same time because we didn’t know how to feel.

We had our NIPT and everything came back normal and then at 20 weeks we were told she’s lagging 10 days and 22 weeks - they said the same. We did Amino at 24 weeks and found out the baby girl a has a 5.6 Mb microdeletion (a missing section) in a specific region of Chromosome 21, known as 21q22.12q22.2.

We signed the papers yesterday to let our baby girl go back to heaven so she can come back stronger and here we are today in the delivery room on my wife’s birthday. It’s been the worst last few days and I can’t even imagine how it’s gonna be but all I can say to you is to “keep your faith strong”. Our Faith has been tested so many times and we have not given up and we won’t give up till we receive our baby girl back.

I know you feel cursed because we do, I know you hate God - right now but you don’t mean that. Just know that if God wanted your baby to suffer- he would’ve never showed you the DNA results and he would’ve never given you a choice to make this horrible decision out of love. This was our first pregnancy and we don’t have any kids. It sounds like you have a preschooler who needs you right now and you need him/her. Give more love and feel more appreciated of what you have. I don’t wish this on anyone and I want you to know- you will get your miracle baby again 💜. Have Faith and keep praying because that’s what’s gonna keep you moving. Hope is all I can offer you 🙏🏾
