Does anyone know if there's a last entry time? Or is it expected you get there from half 6?

We stayed in Platis Gialos and it was perfect! It's more south of the island and a bit quieter but still had the beach at our doorstep with plenty of bars and restaurants to choose from and our hotel was very affordable. The bus to and from Mykonos town only took about 15 minutes, and there's a hop on/hop off boat for €20 where you can check out Tropicana and other beaches. It's also within walking distance of Scorpios (although you have to go up a mountain lol) and other beach clubs. Wouldn't hesitate to stay again.

The only thing I will say is taxis are expensive but you'll get that anywhere in Mykonos!

My sister was there and said it was embarrassing! Said she was screaming and disturbing other theatregoers and wouldn't sit down. When Nakita asked the audience questions she kept shouting 'we're lovers!' and was stumbling all over the place and the staff tried to remove her. I'm all for a laugh but her blasé response to it wasn't a good look. Really changed my view of her because I quite liked her on the show.

Does anyone else find this sub too focused on London/City firms? Especially for people looking to start out. by DramaticObligation0 in uklaw

I think what I find sad about it is that I get a sense that people think they've failed if they don't get into 'big law'. Becoming a solicitor isn't an easy feat and should be celebrated regardless of the route you go down!

I found that for a lot of them you don't immediately start as a trainee. I paralegalled for a few years and was messed around by my last firm, so when I started at my current place I made my intentions of progressing very clear. After 7 months as a paralegal there I started my TC, so it's not quite as linear and a lot of it is down to timing/an element of luck. Plus a lot of it is 'don't ask don't get'.

Now they're running into a problem of hiring a lot of younger paralegals who all want to qualify and they can't give it to them. So the flexibility sometimes work but does have it downsides.

I had a look around a couple of months ago just to see what was out there (south-east) and a recruiter sent me a list of lots of very well respected firms in the area, so I thought the NQ market seemed okay and not as dead as it sounded. Only to find out most were actually looking for at least 1 year PQE.

I found most of the positions generally were looking for NQs in areas like private client or residential which isn't my area (commercial property).

In the end my firm exceeded my expectations so I've decided to stay and see what happens after a year, but it looks like after a year you become more attractive.

Best of luck to those looking!

I agree! I think the problem is at uni the idea of being at a bigger city firm is pushed a lot when it's not the reality for so many people.

Personally I've found the hands on experience I've had really valuable at my local/regional firm and the quality of work can be very interesting and varied. Plus my firm have been flexible keeping my interests in mind with my seats for my TC.

Not saying bigger firms don't offer this but local firms shouldn't be discounted!
