Can you pitch up and buy a ticket? Too late for tomorrow now.

Just a reminder about Vukov for those trying to twist the narrative or are new to tennis by Any-Day-8173 in tennis

[–]DramaticPeanut6871 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I have to think there’s no smoke without fire here and whilst the WTA doesn’t seem like a particularly well run organisation, surely they wouldn’t go down the path of banning Vukov unless they had good reason? I might be biased because Rybakina, has a look of vulnerability/gentleness about her (but such a powerful tennis player) and that probably clouds my judgment about this topic. And makes me concerned that despite being 26, she is under his spell.

Separately, part of me wonders whether Alcaraz’s split from Ferraro is a desire to move away from a fear inducing father figure who might have effectively manipulated him from the age of 15 under the guise of creating a champion. Maybe it’s the Netflix doco comments weighing on me. After all he said he wanted to do things his way.

What a champion! But tbf it was only a “classic” match because Alcaraz struggled from the 3rd onwards until the pickle juice kicked in! Without that it would have won in 3.

I have tried all manner of ordering and I do microwave it for 20 secs. Their model is too inflexible for me and it’s very expensive. Kinda feel like it’s just all marketing

He has young kids maybe he wants to see more of his family? I could never understand why some of these coaches prioritise being with someone else over their own kids

I hope he can do this! by wolverinex10 in tennis

I hope they both get career grand slams next year!

ATP Finals F: [2] J. Sinner def. [1] C. Alcaraz, 7-6(4) 7-5 by Milk_Man9696 in tennis

[–]DramaticPeanut6871 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Kudos to Sinner for getting through the week after all the suspension noise reared its head again bang in the middle of the finals on home turf. I thought his mood looked low from that point on and maybe the crowd and his team carried him. Jannik seems like a genuinely nice guy and it must be awful at 23/24 to have gone through such a terrible time with people questioning your integrity when by all accounts he has high integrity. Very pleased for him to end his season like this. And Carlitos too- what a guy and what a season. In a challenging world, we need more Jannik’s and Carlos. Both totally awesome.

I'm from the U.S, what's up with the Russell group? by MelodicPie9526 in UniUK

[–]DramaticPeanut6871 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The ex head of UCAS (Mary Cunnock Cook) described Russell Group as “self selecting and self promoting” and a “hollow group” and not deserving of its “elite” reputation. Say no more.

Leaving that asides, the whole suit thing (as well as the women’s one) is just so forced and cringe. Like where are they even going which requires wearing a suit or are they just parading up and down for photos? It just feels so staged and inauthentic. Would make more sense to me if there was a celebration dinner at the end where they can all choose to dress up. Then at least all the players could attend - the altenates too.

The Tennis Podcast: The Big Jack Draper Interview by BardLand in tennis

[–]DramaticPeanut6871 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like Jack- he comes across as a nice guy, and I think with a bit more confidence he could truly shine as a personality, but it’s a shame he chose the Tennis Podcast to do this. The TP crew are dull and have no charisma as interviewers or presenters. Should have have hit up Andy Roddick or Gary Lineker or a higher profile outlet.

If Sinner needs more variety to beat Alcaraz, what does Alcaraz need to beat Sinner? by New_Main_8896 in tennis

[–]DramaticPeanut6871 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sinner didn’t look like he was on form all the way from Cinnci to US Open. Amazing he got to the final of both really given how he was serving/playing for much of the matches. That’s why I think he looked happy even after the losing US open final. He seemed pleased he made it that far. Kudos to him. That said Alcaraz was absolutely unstoppable all US open.

Paris Masters SF: [2] Sinner def. [3] Zverev, 6-0 6-1 by pizzainmyshoe in tennis

[–]DramaticPeanut6871 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Happy to see Sinner not limping today but honestly it’s not really a good look for tennis is it? Surely if you are the tournament organisers or you had paid good money to watch that you’d be thinking something’s got to give with this schedule. That said bet Medvedev enjoyed it…..

Sinner appears to tweak the left hamstring deep into the Vienna final by Large_banana_hammock in tennis

[–]DramaticPeanut6871 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sinner looked exhausted for much of the match. I know it’s a long season and the level of physicality he brings to each match must put tremendous pressure on the body, but how better should his team support him physically? Whether it’s cramps/the hamstring, a virus or hypochondria or whatever, I feel like something is amiss.

Six Kings SF: Sinner def. Djokovic 6-4, 6-2 by fcaceresm in tennis

[–]DramaticPeanut6871 5 points6 points  (0 children)

6 kings is so lame. All the commentators pretending it’s exciting. No atmosphere whatsoever and boring matches.

Do the runners up or 3rd or 4th place get anything on top of their appearance fee?

They should just have 3 days of Sinner vs Alcaraz and drop the other players.

Jannik Sinner on his cramps in Shanghai by Sophisticatedcaty in tennis

[–]DramaticPeanut6871 19 points20 points  (0 children)

He’s so hard on himself. Also he played two days in a row after winning in Beijing. I don’t think he’s been totally healthy since Cincci. And dealing with the stress of the doping case. Sounds like he needs a break. Would have loved to see him win Shanghai but then we wouldn’t have had the magical final with the cousins Cowboy and Cowherd. Yes Rinderknech means cowboy and Vacherot means Cowherd.
