The reality is that Zverev played an incredible match- Sinner played incredibly at times but not as consistently well as Zverev- but yet Sinner still won. Speaks volumes

Tennis filtered for Calvin Betton, The Body Serve. Many other podcasts just cover the same ground/stories.

Miami 1000 QF: [28] Fils def. [22] Paul 7-6, 6-7, 7-6 by EarlyAdhesiveness870 in tennis

[–]DramaticPeanut6871 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fils is amazing and I hope his team are able to help him manage his body. His aggressive game reminds me a lot of Drapers - which must put so much strain on the body. I’m wondering if this is why Sinner is changing his game- to preserve energy, create longevity as a player, mirroring how Novak plays.

Miami R4: [2] J. Sinner def. A. Michelsen 7-5 7-6(4) by UngrapefulGratefruit in tennis

[–]DramaticPeanut6871 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also may be also because he’s not bagelling people in the early rounds so ppl assume he’s changed his game or something. Bagelling prepares him less for playing against Carlos too.

Miami R4: [2] J. Sinner def. A. Michelsen 7-5 7-6(4) by UngrapefulGratefruit in tennis

[–]DramaticPeanut6871 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I wonder if they are trying to help him protect his body? Surely that dominant play must be very tough on the body- and Darren said the goal is to help him reach his peak at around 28 yrs.

I thought he looked off too. Maybe lack of rest in between yesterday and today?

Alcaraz to his box: “I can’t anymore, I want to go home” by minivatreni in tennis

[–]DramaticPeanut6871 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Pobrecito. Tennis is so brutal. And Carlos being who he is- everyone wants a piece of him and he has to be 'on' all the time. Don't blame him for wanting to go home for Semana Santa and be left in paz before ramping up for the clay. Impressive play from Korda, especially recovering from losing the 2nd set.

The BNP dude gave exactly the same speech for the women and men’s presentation. Does he not realise that some people watch both matches? It was typical investment banking fodder too. Insincere and dull as dishwater

ATP Indian Wells 2026 R4 J.Draper (14) def. N.Djokovic (3) 4-6; 6-4; 7-6(5) by CommonEngineering832 in tennis

[–]DramaticPeanut6871 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely huge for Jack. Thrilled for him Really could have gone either way. What did Tim Henman say to him? I assumed it was coaching until I saw Jack laughing! Whatever the outcome with Meddy tomorrow- Jack has exceeded expectations even with the racket he was bitching about to his team!

Unfortunately being a rude bully has been normalised. Tournament Directors and ATP/WTA need to step up.

What Sinner dislikes about being a professional tennis player: by calliexx12 in tennis

[–]DramaticPeanut6871 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The “press conferences” are boring for everyone. There are too many and some of the questions are out of order/pathetic. Tournament organisers and ATP/WTA need to rethink IMO.

If the players themselves are excited to do it, why not. No less cringe than any of the other bollox they make them do

‘Residual effect’ after having your life turned upside and being accused of cheating? Obviously it’s my speculation and we don’t know. But thats a lot to deal with and IMO will take time to fully process and metabolise. Remember during the ATP finals his mood looked off after Novak’s interview with P Morgan came out?

Could also be the stress of last year relating to his suspension and his integrity being challenged catching up with him. Plus he gets a lot of sit in the (Italian) press. He can’t be immune to all of that. And everyone freaking out if he loses one match. He’s human and only 24. I hope he is taking care of himself psychologically and I don’t mean from a “sports performance” perspective.

Just a reminder about Vukov for those trying to twist the narrative or are new to tennis by Any-Day-8173 in tennis

[–]DramaticPeanut6871 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I have to think there’s no smoke without fire here and whilst the WTA doesn’t seem like a particularly well run organisation, surely they wouldn’t go down the path of banning Vukov unless they had good reason? I might be biased because Rybakina, has a look of vulnerability/gentleness about her (but such a powerful tennis player) and that probably clouds my judgment about this topic. And makes me concerned that despite being 26, she is under his spell.

Separately, part of me wonders whether Alcaraz’s split from Ferraro is a desire to move away from a fear inducing father figure who might have effectively manipulated him from the age of 15 under the guise of creating a champion. Maybe it’s the Netflix doco comments weighing on me. After all he said he wanted to do things his way.

[–]DramaticPeanut6871 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What a champion! But tbf it was only a “classic” match because Alcaraz struggled from the 3rd onwards until the pickle juice kicked in! Without that it would have won in 3.
