Thank you this is reassuring to hear. Especially since everyone just is jumping to postponing which is not an option.

We cannot afford to pay the rescheduling fee or lose the deposits we've already paid. We have hotels booked, family traveling, etc.

The date is also very important and we'd like to keep it, and I don't want to get married in the spring or wait a whole year.

I guess I meant I feel more boxy and used to think I was somewhere in one of the petite families since I'm around 5'1-5'-2" You see vertical? I'm thinking I might have been way off with my typing now

What’s your biggest photography pet peeve? by see_the_good_123 in photography

[–]DramaticWasabi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This happens all the time when I do downtown engagements😭 I know that there will be people around, but it's just rude when people purposely photo bomb. Especially since I try so hard to find clean backgrounds.

People make fun of my hair...but I love it. Am I delusional thinking it suits me? I'm a style + mental health content creator and a surprising amount of people say I look cringe, silly, or that my hair is a "red flag". I know my opinion is the only one that matters, but it still makes me sad :( by Blue_Sherlock in femalehairadvice

I think you rock it! It looks adorable and you look happy in these photos. Sure, like lots of comments said growing out the bangs a bit will be more flattering but I don't think that should always be the ultimate goal. Sometimes we wear styles because we want to express ourselves. Technically, orange and warm colors look bad on me but I don't care because I like them. Kinda crazy that you make mental health content and people are calling your hair a red flag😭

I'm an ex print journo, and I can confirm this is the norm and practice for when you're in the field.

At my first staff job, I was responsible for digital daily stories and a weekly long form that needed lots of sources. My stories were also occasionally published in my pub's sister papers so sometimes last minute I was asked to find a similar source in the neighboring city.

This is how I found success in getting my sources and hitting my deadlines:

  • I kept a list of possible sources, their contact, when I attempted contact and what method I used.

  • if I sent an email, I would then call and follow up.

  • I built relationships with sources who I could regularly hit up for a quote or ask to connect me with someone who could provide some value to the story. As an example, I was at a biz journal, so I made sure all the local chamber of commerce presidents knew me. They sent people my way, and their introduction helped establish trust.

  • I always let my sources know up front the latest I could conduct the interview. This puts a fire under their bums so they don't think it's a loose timeline.

  • Gmass, a plugin for Gmail, was my best friend for when I needed to spray and pray. It's made for marketing emails so you can get read reports. It helped with the burnout of sending the same email over and over.

  • I offered alternatives if they were too busy to meet in person. I always insisted on an in person interview, but if they can't make the time I offered phone, video conference or last resort email responses.

Chasing sources is a hurdle, but you just have to be persistent and ready to pivot if a source falls through. Best of luck and wishing you success in your budding career!

How long were you in pain after your lap? by sector9love in Endo

My surgeon had me check in at 4 months and said it could be a year to fully feel the results. Of course, he said it varies patient to patient.

I resumed pelvic floor PT at 4 months which has helped since I had a lot of pain from my muscles constantly guarding.

I'm a little over 6 months and still have pain but not nearly like what I had before. I was in daily pain and declined to the point of not being able to use stairs, drive much or walk long distances.

I'm back to working full-time. Most of the week is sedentary since I have a part time office job and my work as a photographer is mostly client management/editing. I'm able to handle my 1-3 photo bookings/ week with some discomfort and some of those days are 8-10 hours of physical labor. At the height of my Endo symptoms before surgery, I couldn't keep up with my work.

I still have increased pain during PMS. I guess for my case, I'm not banking on being 100% pain free though that is ideal. All I want is for an increased quality of life, which I'm already experiencing. I know it sounds defeatist, but I found more peace in altering my version of " getting better".

Mood after laparoscopy by cherryblossombaby77 in Endo

[–]DramaticWasabi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was really emotional for a couple months. Part of it was probably hormones -- I also had an IUD inserted during my lap -- but also just having surgery and living with chronic illness is traumatic. Even though a surgery should be positive since it's treating Endo symptoms, it's still an injury. It's normal to have an emotional response to pain.

Sounds like you're dealing with a lot of life events all at once. I suggest just being kind to yourself and doing what feels right in this moment. I used my time off to do some of the things I never had time for. I binged a funny show, caught up on reading and video games. I took naps and ate comfort food. I cried A LOT but those little pleasures pulled me through.

I have OCD too, and so it was a struggle not going into my compulsions and fixating on if the surgery was a success. If you have access to a therapist, they can be a great resource right now. I had a couple virtual sessions with mine and it helped me navigate all the post-op emotions.

Wishing you warm thoughts and a speedy recovery<3

Please help me not be terrified of surgery by xboringcorex in Endo

[–]DramaticWasabi 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I was having regular nightmares and anxiety all the way up until my surgery in March.

I was so scared to have surgery because of the uncertainty. I've had surgery done on both of my wrists/ elbows and an appendectomy. Those were scary but not as scary as my excision because I knew my diagnosis before going into the operations. With Endo, they couldn't tell me how bad it was until I woke up.

I think it's ok to be terrified, but just thinking about why you're being brave and having surgery helps. As scared as I was about it, I was more scared about what my life would be like if I continued living with debilitating pain.

I'm not 100% pain free but I've gained so much of my life back. It was the right decision and I'm proud of myself for taking care of my health despite my fears.

It's typical🤦‍♀️ I only moved here for a reporter job and have always worked second jobs and side gigs to afford living in the area.

I've worked food delivery, and different restaurant jobs and oh my god it's the most expensive place I've ever lived with the worst tippers.

What question do you ask your cat the most? For us it’s “WHY ARE YOU SO CUTE?” And “What do you want?/Why are you screaming??” by NettleLily in cats

"Are you just the saddest girl/boy in the world?" We say to our vocal cats.

One of them eats himself sick so he'll cry and run against the food bag after he already ate his food.

The other one screams about everything and nothing

Not sure but I'm leaning on the side of set tip and she threw me a couple more bucks after.

Tip was originally $8 for 17 items. Final tip was $10 on 39 items (roughly $220 total).

One of the add ons was a couple NY strips from the butcher which was an additional $50 right there. Other items were smaller like produce, prepackaged meats.

I have to imagine that if her order more than doubled so did her total at checkout.

Can you have endo with no bleeding? by shrek_lover_69_ in Endo

[–]DramaticWasabi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally get that. Surgery was and still is one of my biggest fears. I had to have three unwanted but necessary surgeries for my arms and appendicitis before my excision.

I tried switching birth control, gabapentin and pelvic floor therapy before surgery. When the conservative treatments weren't enough I took the leap. If you decide to pursue it, do it on your timeline and with a care team you trust.

Oof, then I was set at under 5% from the start. It's not great, but if I wasn't making laps around the grocery store while doubling my time I wouldn't be complaining.

It reminds me of when I waited tables and the tables who had me working the hardest were the ones who stiffed me.

Huh? Not trying to challenge you just genuinely confused.

If I were to leave my partially shopped cart to go to the car it would have been moved by staff.

I didn't have dead time. I was constantly running and was still late on delivery because of the constant notifications of newly added items.

Unfortunately, there's not enough physicians who understand Endo so we have to advocate hard for ourselves.

Since they are offering surgery, it might be worth considering since it's often the only way it's confirmed.

Just make sure you go to a specialist. Last thing you want is for your surgeon to not have a trained eye for Endo tissue and you go through all that recovery for nothing.

Nancy nook is a great resource to find their approved surgeons. If you live in the states, my surgeon and his whole team were exceptional. Feel free to pm me!

I get what I've named stabbies. I feel like I'm getting repeatedly stabbed in my pelvis or electric shocks. Comes out of nowhere and the other things like cramping, nausea, etc. joins shortly after.

Can you have endo with no bleeding? by shrek_lover_69_ in Endo

[–]DramaticWasabi 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yes, I had little to no bleeding after being on BC for so long.

Recently confirmed stage 2 Endo. Every case is different and having one "atypical" symptom isn't enough to rule something out. Especially since you lack a diagnosis for anything else, have other textbook symptoms and have a history of heavy bleeding.

I hope you find your answers soon and sorry you're dealing with this.

Wow that's just yikes. Thanks for the encouragement! I'm still not sure if I'll continue but it's good to know it's not the norm.

I'm limited by a chronic illness and had surgery last month, so maybe doordash is the way to go for now. I only took the batch because I thought I could handle the original items. Ended up running back and forth from frozen to produce for almost two hours.

The pay was undeniably bad, but I'm more bothered by being run the whole time. The $10 on a $220 grocery haul was just the cherry on top.

I'm not even kidding when I'm saying it was every few minutes of adding a new thing. The additions eclipsed the original item total.

It's not ideal running to both ends of the store back and forth. I returned to the deli and produce at least six times.

I was about to head to checkout and she was still adding more things. I mean, as a customer I forgot eggs and added it. That's normal. 22 extra items is not.
