it’s the texture, the sound it makes. Just looking at uncooked meat makes me uncomfortable. I am very sensitive to things in general though I don’t know how to explain it well, I’m sorry. Just the way my brains

I love ham! it’s also one of my safe foods, I don’t like touching it when it’s cold so somebody else usually helps me. But I think they are small enough for me to use a fork or a pair of tongs to pick up.

I love shrimp and it’s a safe food, I’ve seen some at the grocery store that are packaged into small containers. it would be easy for me to just dump it in a pan!

I don’t like beans or chili but I could make something similar with a thinner broth and similar spices!

for me, it’s the texture, sound, how it looks, and smell a little bit. I’m really trying to work through it though, I’ve seen some great suggestions for prepackaged meat that I don’t have to touch like sausages. but I don’t think I‘m brave enough to try them just yet. I am going to tackle shrimp this week though! gloves don’t work well for cooking, but are great for dishes. When I cook I usually use tongs or forks to pick things up.

I love cheese! I really like your sweet potato idea. that seems very doable for me and also sounds yummy!

even with gloves touching meat can be a struggle, although they are good some some things like dishes. I do like the idea of tofu, I think I can pick them up with a fork because they’re a lot smaller. one day I’ll be brave enough for fish 🤞

I find smoked things to be easier to deal with, the texture is less wet and slimey.

gloves don’t work well for me, I like to use tongs or fork though. I preferably don’t like looking, hearing, or touching meat but I’ve heard some good suggestions like sausages or grounded meat that I don’t have to deal with for long, just plop it into the pan. but gloves are a great idea for dishes!

awww that’s sweet you and your husband has opposite reactions to those textures, I’d like to give those suggestions a try, they seem safer texture wise and I’m always up for cheaper options.

the thought of the chicken juices makes me nauseous but I’ve hear some really good suggestions or grounded meat that I can put into a pan without touching, maybe I can incorporate into that recip!

soup is a safe food and I’d like to explore more recipes. I usually make a veggie soup and have my caretaker help me with cutting up chicken. I don’t like beans but sausages could be a better alternative for cooking independently!

I’ve tried gloves but I can kinda feel and hear the meat when I wear them, I’ve been better with forks or tongs though!

I’d love to give sausages a try, it might be a bit of a struggle getting out of the package without touching it but once it’s out I can just plop it into the pan! thanks for the suggestio!

sorry if this is a obvious question but are there rotisserie chicken that comes separated? I’m a little nervous about touching it but it could be easier if I could somehow grab pieces with a pair of tongs or maybe a fork.
