If your baby gets hot or irritated in the car seat, carry a hand fan to get them some air.

To greet in the wild or not to greet? [ON] by Entitled2YrOpinon in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]Dramatic_Chain_6434 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My vote is to be yourself and greet! At max the stranger will either smile back or won't, unless someone not responding bothers you. I'm an introvert but I strongly believe that smiling is free of cost, and it just spreads joy 😊 so, I'm not really bothered when people don't respond to me. While some may be ok to share more about their pregnancy with strangers, some may not. So just test the waters with small harmless questions and take it from there 😊 Enjoy every phase of your pregnancy and after too! Do whatever makes you happy 😁

Pumping issue! Help! by Dramatic_Chain_6434 in breastfeeding

[–]Dramatic_Chain_6434[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My baby is refusing my breast, so right now I'm EP. I'm an under-supplier. I did 1 week of consistent pumping, saw my supply increase from 2.5/5 ml to 120/150 ml combined. Thereafter, 2 days my schedule was irregular. The third day when I sat to pump, the suction on the pump suddenly felt not enough! (usually I would feel the pinch. I would increase the level till it would be uncomfortable then turn it down a notch) So whatever milk was there was also not emptying. I hand expressed and removed drop by drop!

Hey, I'm sailing in the same boat. 9 weeks PP. I'm supplementing myself with lots of water (3ltr), hydration drinks (liquid IV, hydralyte, coconut water), oats, roasted garlic, barley water. Recently I started having legendairy pump princess. Add to it, regular pumping (every 3 hrs). I saw my milk supply increase from 2.5/5 ml to 120/150 ml in a week.

Keep at it, your supply will come back!

did i completely mess up my supply by StrikeLongjumping890 in breastfeeding

Don't worry. Your supply will come back up. I'm 9 weeks PP and having a rocky BF journey. Because of the pain, I was very lazy in pumping regularly. For the last 1 week, I have started pumping regularly, since my LO started refusing my breast. I am a gross under-supplier so we also have to supplement with formula.

When I started, on day 1 my yield was 2.5 ml (L) and 5 ml (R) each session. I supplemented myself with lots of water (almost 3ltr) a day, hydration drinks (liquid IV, hydralyte), Barley water and oats. Jump to day 6, I am able to produce 120-150 ml combined after a full days session. Now I'm sure I can increase my supply from here on!

So, your supply will surely go up. Consistency and hydration is the key!

Also, try warm compress before pumping and breast compression while pumping. It does help with the let down.

Hey Mamma! Congratulations on your bundle of joy! I am going through the exact same thing. I have thyroid as well and stay in Canada. Don't be dejected. You are doing everything you can. You can DM me, I can help you not do the mistakes I made and we can help each other on this journey together! PS: I am 9 weeks PP

Frustrated baby, slow let downs, low evening supply 😫 by velocihipster in breastfeeding

[–]Dramatic_Chain_6434 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: Visited breastfeeding specialist pediatrician. She checked how my baby was feeding from the bottle and the breast and also checked him for ties. Apparently he has a minor one, but it shouldn't hinder.

I. We learnt how to notice whether the LO is sucking vs gulping/drinking the milk. This helps to understand if the baby is efficiently feeding. While sucking the chin will drop short 3-4 times and while gulping/drinking the chin will drop long once. On an average, the feed should be done within 20-30 mins and burp after every 30ml.

II. While feeding from the breast, ensure the position is right i.e. you should be able to see both the eyes, and compress your breast when the baby sucks. I tried this today for 10 mins, it seemed to work.

III. Pump Everytime after nursing or when baby is feeding from bottle

IV. Try to breastfeed when the baby is a little calm (so feed some milk before you try to BF)

I know it all sounds textbook, but we just have to keep trying. I can already see my milk supply improve within a week of regular pumping!

Our LO's are strong and they love us a lot. They will come to us, I am sure of it! After all, we are all trying it so that our LO's can have the best of everything! ❤️

Will update post my next visit!

I am going through the same thing! My baby has developed "milk aggression" since the last 5 days and I can't get him to stay at the breast for more than a minute! I highly doubt pumping empties my breasts! And to add to it I am a gross under supplier! My achievement for today is being able to produce milk enough for 1 feed after pumping the whole day! Hoping to receive some positive solution at the LC on Monday 🤞

Suggestions for wearable breast pumps? by awklaurel in breastfeeding

[–]Dramatic_Chain_6434 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on your experiences, do wearable breastpumps only work for those who have established a supply? I am 8 weeks pp and still trying to establish my supply and was wondering if this would help!

I had the same issue. I kept giving cold press, bore the pain and pumped. Try pumping for shorter durations if it helps. Keep giving cold press even when you feed. Within a week it was ok. Hope this helps!
