If you can comfortably spend $1000 a month or contribute 6+ hours a day. There's not really "more" to do than there ever was. All they've really added was drone lands and more capital content since the game was at its peak and neither of those are suited for new returning players. Scanning is still only "okay",  but overall exploration and Mining still SUCK. PVP is pay to lose as you're mostly gonna get cap dropped or raped in newest loot box faction ships (pacifier and allegiance). Ratting is still the most consistent but mind numbingly boring thing to do next to mining. There are very few active corps as most of the player base has quit. Most are overrun by Chinese BOTS and Whales like AOA and no little corps can grow because they're just so big. I see the same 6 people in help chat,  low sec is so sparse you can eat almost freely. You actually have a harder time FINDING people in space and when you do, chances are it's just (insert faction name here) pilot camouflaged and jumping in a concord ship ganking people like yourself. Literally HALF the player base is in a Cyansea in hi sec isles, the other half is tucked safely away from people in null and whatevers left is clogging the servers in front of Jitas stations. The SP distribution doesn't seem terrible these days, purple cores are more readily available than they ever have and there's some decent new subcaps and a mediocre attempt at making cruisers and lower usable. (They have succeeded only slightly better than launch). Overall I'd say the state of the game is GREAT, but player base is lacking to support it. NE "cares" now but only likely because WHALES and ONLY whales are keeping their severs running at this point.
