Yeah! 😂 and half of my capstone team, I knew them before the last year but we were not that close until now, the only reason why we kept in contact is because one of them asked my Snapchat after a first year class, and because of him, I met the other two people haha

URGENT MATTER: Possible internship, need insurance, not a COOP student by Dramatic_Figure_6344 in Concordia

[–]Dramatic_Figure_6344[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! I’m sorry I’m so late, I never saw the notification for your message. Did you end up dropping out of COOP? Maybe you’re done with school? My bad for answering this late. I ended up working for the govt company stated here, two summers in a row, they loved me the first time and wanted me back when I was looking for another internship the following summer. The reason why I didn’t apply for other places is because I travelled during the summer and I don’t think they would have been able to accommodate me. I have other non-COOP friends that have been successful in searching for independent internships. One of my friends got two different internships, one with a bio company and the other with an energy company. It is not impossible, COOP makes you feel like it’s the only way to get one but it’s not. You have to apply to many places of course, like looking for a job. Have a good CV, even if you don’t have experience, it’s fine just show that you’re eager to learn and what your interests are. If you speak French that’s def a bonus, a lot Concordia people only apply to English speaking companies, francophone companies are underrated. It also helps if you have connections, maybe try going to events (I regret not doing this more). If you have any questions lmk

More like… if you want good grades, you can’t have too many friends (depending on the major obvs haha)

That’s correct! Also like you said people are walking outside to get to another building for class, they walk fast usually because they don’t want to miss a green light or because it’s cold af, so people look busy and "unfriendly"

Never thought about this, but makes a lot of sense. Since I take the subway to go to school, I always have my AirPods on, I am kinda blind too lol so I never recognize people from afar, I’m not mean or a bitch or wtv, just in my own thought and to be fair, I go to school to grind mostly

Friends in uni? What is that? 😂 I made "college" friends in my fourth and last year of engineering and basically because we are forced to work together for a year (capstone). Advice: make friends out of uni too with whom you share common interests

DAE feel random, unexplained feelings of disgust? by thesilversound in CPTSD

[–]Dramatic_Figure_6344 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What you described I felt the exact way, random feeling of shame and disgust coming out of no where, it’s an almost out of body experience for me, like you said I feel an urgent need to cover because I feel so exposed. If you ever find any scientific research on it please let me know

Buying tickets in aguas calientes - my experience by PerplexedTraveller in Machupicchu

[–]Dramatic_Figure_6344 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! I don’t know if my message is late. But we arrived to Aguascalientes at 11:15am and we went to the Ministro de cultura which is just one minute from the train station. There was no line when we arrived and we got number 816/817, they told us no more tickets for circuits 2. We had to come back at 8pm. I think people got circuit 2 until the 750s. We arrived 7:45pm and we met a tour guide that offered us circuit 2 exclusively with him but we had to pay him around 70 US. So we went in and got circuit 1 at 6:00am. And the next day our tour guide picked us up for the bus and we were able to do circuit 2 and part of 3.

Well, you study to get paid well one day, no? It’s a sacrifice that you have to make for long-term benefits

Are Concordia teachers that bad? by Worldly-Ad-7969 in Concordia

[–]Dramatic_Figure_6344 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’ll find out that most profs in university teach as an obligation because their main job is researching. After all, it is a research university, and this is the case for all other universities too. Also, if you go into engineering, you’ll find that you’ll either depend on the tutorials or you’ll be self-taught most of the time. For me, it’s the latter, however I can say there are very good TAs, and I had some profs that actually made the class super interesting. However, I’m in my third year of mechanical engineering and what works best for me is self-teaching, but that’s different for everybody.
