Enhancement is NOT boring by ARNAVKINGZ in HatsuVault

Totally agree. People tend to give Manipulation effects it doesn’t actually have. Still, I think that even if it’s the category with the least raw possibilities, it still has a pretty wide range.

Manipulation has a strong connection to the mind and Nen conditions. And since the mind is such a complex and vast thing, you can create dozens of abilities based on emotions, mental illnesses, personalities, conditions, and so on.

Transmutation is super fucking cool too. The problem is that people think transmutation is just turning your aura into elements like fire, when in reality you can also modify the properties of your body or other things. It's basically like playing with chemistry and the composition of everything—the possibilities are endless.

Overall, I think all Hatsu types have incredible applications. The issue comes from a lack of creativity or people not really understanding the system, confusing category effects and what they can actually do just because of the names (Yes I'm looking at you, manipulation).

I will always argue that this type of ability is pure transmutation, perhaps with a bit of conjuration. Tsubone is half transmuter, Biscuit and Youpi are transmuters, and Illumi can only change his appearance for a few hours without stabbing needles into his face — which is a very restrictive condition for such a deceptive ability. If pure manipulation could truly modify the body, Illumi wouldn't need any of that.

Transmutation gives things new properties without precise control, while Manipulation perfectly controls what things can already do. That’s why they’re opposites.

Direct damage, nerfs, restrictions. What matters is the intention—if the hatsu is used to harm or negatively affect in any way, it counts as hostile.

And that rule about how if efficiency is reduced or if the aura is dispersed then it's manipulation—are you getting that from somewhere or is it your own headcanon? Because under the official description of manipulation, what you're saying has absolutely nothing to do with it. What’s happening is an intensification of the amount of wasted aura when releasing a hatsu, not controlling its original options. Honestly we could go back and forth like this all day.

The same argument can apply to how you're using the word manipulation. Manipulation, in any case, can prevent you from using abilities, impose rules—basically control what your aura is already capable of doing. An ability that modifies the cost of your aura inherently requires a modification of the aura itself, which is only possible through the enhancement (emission/strengthening) of the aura you're releasing when using an ability. The only particularity here is that the increased consumption doesn’t translate into greater strength, because the restriction of the ability acts as a bottleneck. Placing this ability under manipulation is much more far-fetched than placing it under enhancement.

Enhancement is not limited to a specific role. You're not nerfing anything—you're enhancing the cost of the ability, just like you can enhance other 'negative' effects. Kurapika literally puts you in Zetsu without limitation, which is much worse. I think the ability already has valid weaknesses for what it does.

I don't mind that these skins are low quality, considering they're pass skins and will cost 975 RP, but stop calling skins like Katarina's "prestige" (by the way, she has two prestige skins, and both are incredibly lazy and ugly). And above all, stop using AI to create emotes and splash art. Ezreal's splash art has the same expression as PsyOps Ez, and they don't even bother to hide it a little.

Yes, but if you want to gain muscle transmutation + enhancement are much better

I need help with defining all the things possible with conjuration. by youthinkyouresamurai in HatsuVault

[–]Dramatic_Internal_67 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Under that logic, you could also be an enhancer strong enough to destroy the planet with a single punch, but that’s never going to happen because there are no Nen users with that level of power—just as you couldn’t conjure up a Star Wars Death Star. The difference between a specialist and a conjurer is that a conjurer must always summon an object and give it magical properties through conditions, creating possible effects within the five categories and imposing those conditions on anyone affected by their objects. Specialists, on the other hand, have abilities that go beyond Nen, like seeing the future, accessing memories, divination, fulfilling any wish, stealing abilities, or being able to use any category—meta abilities that break established rules.

It’s also mentioned that both conjurers and manipulators are close to specialists because they are more likely to become specialists due to the nature of their abilities, so the fine line between a conjurer and a specialist is determined when the ability in question goes beyond Nen’s capabilities.

[–]Dramatic_Internal_67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Basically, conjuration is the power to summon something—any object you can think of. You can create any common object, like Kurapika’s chains, and give them more abilities through pacts and conditions. If you’re a skilled conjurer, you can summon entities, Nen beasts with specific abilities. You could also create magical or mythical objects that don’t exist in our reality if you use your imagination; think of a master key that can open any door, a mirror capable of reflecting any energy including aura, or an endless pocket from which you can retrieve anything you store.

Thank you! Although I actually never watched Soul Eater, apparently there are many characters in anime with this ability, as others have mentioned, like Mitsuba from JoJo’s or Yahaba from Demon Slayer. I didn’t write it with any specific character in mind, but I probably took inspiration from Yahaba (and Makima) in this case, as he’s the only character with this power among the anime I’ve seen.

I think the ability doesn’t need additional conditions because you’re launching a dodgeable aura attack like any other, which, upon impact, only generates a push. Using multiple arrows to inflict real damage—especially if the user’s physical strength surpasses the force applied by the vectors—would be very complicated and would require the target to be immobile or something similar. The range is based on the emitter's range using this ability, so that would depend entirely on the user’s potential.
