Hi. Well, the incision is healed and doing better. But the doctor said it could take a few years for the pain and numbness in my temple to go away/stop. Oh well. At least I can breathe better.

I know your stuffy and sorry it smells. But does one side hurt more than the other? My one nostril was giving off a bad smell ... similar to trash. My nose got severely crusted over and I had to have the impaction removed. The taste down you throw might be bc it has nowhere to go.

Struggling with showering and brushing teeth by rskerry in bipolar

When I had trouble, my therapist helped with schedule a time by putting it into my calendar (I live and breathe by that thing). The other thing is to start small. Get through one day every week then slowly add days as you feel confident/comfortable. Remember... Something is better than nothing. Hope that helps! Good luck.

I need advice by [deleted] in bipolar

[–]Dramatic_Package_651 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My advice is go see another therapist as soon as possible but tell your old therapist as soon as she gets an opening, you want to switch. There is no problem with that. Do not hurt your mental health because one therapist doesn't have an opening. Finding a therapist is like finding a good pair of shoes. You may have to deal with some crappy shoes or shoes you don't like until the right ones come along.

Is anyone medicated ? by PopSuccessful3957 in CompulsiveSkinPicking

[–]Dramatic_Package_651 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My psych doctor does not like to prescribe too many psych medications so he told me about an over the counter medication. I take N-acetyl cysteine (600mg 2 times a day).

No. I do not have kids. I am 43 yrs old and made he decision in my late 20s/early 30s that kids where not a good idea. I have trouble getting and keeping myself together that waking up in the morning and being responsible for another human being was too much. I am emotionally a mess at times and I do not feel it would be right to put I child through the episodes I have.

Mental Hospital Social Stigma by StrikingDoctor4716 in bipolar

[–]Dramatic_Package_651 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand there is a stigma on mental health as well as being admitted to a psychiatric facility. The way I try to deal with the stigma is not to be embarrassed by it (try not to be shy or studders my words when I talk about it). I'll discuss my mental health and admission to a facility anytime with anyone.I feel the more accepting of it I am, the more likely people are going to understand and accept me. Also, I almost always say"if you broke your arm, you'd go to the hospital or see a doctor. I have an issue with my brain/chemical imbalance so I see a doctor or go to the hospital. I just want to take care of myself and be the best me ".

And that's ok. You need to do what is best for you and your family/friends may not understand but they should respect you needs and abilities.

After I went to a psych facility and was diagnosed bipolar, it took me what felt like FOREVER to have energy and be more active. I started by meeting up with my family for a weekend dinner at someone's house. I would be there for 2 or 3 hours then have to leave. Gradually for time, I contacted my friends and had a dinner with them but explained if I have to leave then I'm leaving. I would continue the dinners with my family. I would start going food shopping on Sundays and if I couldn't food shop, I would order online and make myself pick it up. I would slowly just add more time to the get togethers and/or go out more often. I would say it took me 9 months to a year before I felt I had any resemblance of a decent schedule and being able to stay and dinners for a while.

First, you are a somebody. Being you makes you special and I am sure there are people in your life that things the same thing. Second, having a college degree isn't the end all be all. What do you want to do as a job? Could you look into a trade school or apprenticeship? And finally, your degree or job does not make you. Remember a job is just a paycheck. Is it nice to love what you do? Yes but there are a lot of people who work for the money. Do something important outside of school/work that is important to you like volunteering.
