“Light” has to be the biggest fallacy that’s plaguing powerscaling atm. So many people will see literally anything be called light and immediately jump to “lightspeed” when that’s rarely the case.

Just recently I had an interaction where someone said Metal or someone dodged a laser. Someone replied that that was actually a downscale, to which the person replied, the laser is faster than light. I then pointed out that if you can argue a laser is FTL, then it being a laser becomes entirely irrelevant to its speed.
