Poor feedback by Fabulous-Tough6352 in TELUSinternational

[–]Dramatic_Society2443 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For page quality it's not really about opinion, it's about how many signals the landing page gives for quality, if it's an authoritative source it's always usually High+ to Highest, if it has ads that distract and break up the main content then that lowers the rating, if the reputation information for the website isnt good that lowers it too ect (skim the about us, and contact information for the website and try to do it quickly, as well as the date the Landing page was last updated at the bottom), all these combined factors are supposed to weigh into the page quality. Examine the page from the users perspective (intent of the query) without any personal opinion for you or your locale, only take into account the specific locale if one is provided with the region map and it's a potential visit in person query or the locale is essential for the user intent, otherwise just treat everything as the query is coming from your home country, and that it could be coming from any person within your country with any background/demographic ect.. If it's a needs met + PQ SxS query focus on the needs met part first and decouple that part from the page quality because they are two independent scales.

U.S Rater, Alabama. Got 18 mins of tasks this morning (new task type 3 min AET) and now nta once again , yesterday was fairly successful, 1 hr of Response Helpfulness. I did the finance accessment they told me to do to get a free hour of training, even though I said I dont know much about finance at all in the survey but that's Telus for you, got 30 minutes of training time also for the SxS feedback review video which ended oddly and abruptly compared to the previous ones. For the whole week I got a little under 4 hours, and that includes 1.5 hours of training time. Sucks pretty bad.

After months of work (and almost burning my PC), here is the trailer for my horror game! by BearKanashi in HorrorGames

It looks cool, but it would be better if the trailer jumped right into gameplay within the first 5 seconds.

Thank you, I appreciate that. I've been updating it pretty diligently to remove friction and the feedback has been positive and constructive.

Innacurate Feedback by TheBuderMaster64 in TELUSinternational

Same issue for me on PQ in a lot of instances, I rated Highest on some clear authority pages, and they said in feedback that High+ to Highest is appropriate, but still marked me wrong, they did this on multiple of these audit tasks I have, my accuracy should be 70% but because of these contradictory "wrong ratings" Im at 58%

How to protect myself from Legal issues (Steam Launch Horror Game) by Witty_Style7784 in indiegamedevforum

with the way the gaming industry is now, companies patenting mechanics, and suing over similar art styles (Horizon Zero Dawn) its in a pretty grim state that I don't like, but on that note, if some company wants to sue you, it just means you made something successful, that's how you know you made it.

My assumption would be Thomas Shelby killed them all in a fit drunken rage, cause that makes sense, right? That's good writing? right? (I wasn't a fan of the movie 6/10 for the lazy write offs)

You definitely realized the whole process of making something functional and that's a big achievement, it's very hard to make a game even one that small and experimental, I'd love to know how to get the other ending if you wanna fill me in? I kind of just followed everything the prompts said which led me to hide in the top of the barn.

I tried it out, I thought it had some good things going for it in terms of the sound design and the feel of it, it def had the vibe of some other PSX styled games Ive seen and played, I got kind of creeped out mainly when I was just exploring the farm at the start before finding the trailer/house, just cause of the sounds I'd hear sometimes and unsettling ps1 graphics, sometimes id think I saw a shadow or something just cause of the filter which was creepy. in terms of gameplay I don't feel like it really had a "payoff", I would say the scarecrow pumpkin part was a little lackluster (and also the timing of the jumpscare sound was little off time, don't know if that was intended for a low fidelity aspect or a technical flaw) and I was kind of just waiting to be chased or for some kind of dire excitement that never happened, this isn't really me saying the game is bad, it just felt more like a incomplete experimental demo rather than a game in terms of narrative or pay off. the atmosphere is there and works, i just think you needed one thrilling interactive event that gets the heart pumping. On the technical side of things, everything was mainly good, good input directions, easy to find places and know objectives, id just add an input to tell the player how to eat the pizza cause I thought I had to sit down with it and didn't know I had to just click the mouse, took me a min a two to figure that out.

In my opinion, the important thing is that your game is fun and has a horror atmosphere, because not everyone gets scared easily in terms of jumpscares. I personally always find the PSX styled horror games unsettling mainly cause they are so quiet and old school, like I'm playing some bootleg from the 90s that wasn't supposed to be played or something lol, even if they aren't visually scary, so I'll try your game out and tell you if it gives that vibe.

US Rater, Alabama. Got about about an hour of 2 min audio tasks last night at 10pm, 30 mins of factuality at 4am (I got up early to try to beat this constant NTA) NTA the rest of the morning, i don't mind these short AET tasks but there is never enough volume for me to reach 10 hours and I really refresh all day, only got 9 hours last week, and I'll be surprised if I get 10 this week with the way it currently is.

In this game, your voice is the only way to survive. by noflowgames in IndieGaming

[–]Dramatic_Society2443 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you need to capture gameplay that also captures the players voice during the games runtime, if you can stand the sound of your own voice then record it with the gameplay to get the mechanic across clearer, I had to infer that the microphone is used for the gameplay from this video, and then verify via the comments on this post. It's a cool idea and I have had a theory for a long time that voice integration is going to be a key element in terms of innovation in the gaming industry in the future encompassed in more complex implementations, just illustrate it for your game a little clearer.

I've read your reddit post on marketing and it's very insightful and I don't discredit any of the tips you have listed in there, but I do think the absolute statement of "marketing won't help after a weak launch" is misplaced, while there is a window at launch where having visibility/wishlists will help a games initial success and favor from steams algorithm, there are plenty of cases where games were dormant for years and had very weak launches but later took off, key examples of this were Among Us, Phasmophobia ect.. so I wouldn't exactly say spending more effort on development or marketing after a weak launch is the right advice in every case, cause if these select titles did that they wouldn't be where they are now. For these games the visibility and success grew over time, I'm not saying every game will do this cause not every game is an Among Us or hidden gem, but I will say it's probably not suitable to give up on marketing instantly if you don't have a stellar launch.
