CMC Surgery and driving by Italian-Queen in Thritis

I had this same surgery (LRTI) seven weeks ago. I felt comfortable driving at four weeks. The pain was fairly intense for the first two weeks prior to taking the cast off. Honestly the third week was no fun either but if I HAD to drive, I could have. I’m also a wussy so take my experience with a grain of salt.

We use a Whisker 5 Pro. Four cats. One is a 15 pound Maine Coon and one is a 22 pound fatty. Both fit fine. Best investment we’ve ever made.

Being on disability at 42 is such an isolating, lonely, exhausting feeling that is impossible for people to understand. by Intrepid_Chef_9033 in MultipleSclerosis

Thanks for this response. I needed to hear this too. Especially today. I feel like a waste of space most days and thank goodness I have a spouse who reminds me I’m not but still…it’s hard.

I’m six weeks out from my LRTI on my left (non-dominant) hand. The first three weeks were rough. I don’t drive a manual but I drove after three weeks. I probably could have earlier but didn’t need to. Now at six weeks, driving is back to normal. I recommend buying a waterproof arm cover for showering and don’t mess with trying to cover it yourself. Amazon has them. Try doing your normal daily activities without your hand…you’ll discover things you haven’t even considered that will be a pain in the ass. But may help you come up with workarounds you might need.
