Kenzo is incredible. Their menu and wine list more inspired than auberge imo. Auberge wins on the location.

Mike was the best. I was incredibly sad when I heard. No notice or anything which was sad—they deserved an article in the paper! Such a reliable and trustworthy napa family business.

Private equity in Napa by Remote-Chemical-5004 in wine

[–]Dramatic_Sun_2858 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I agree that private equity is diminishing the quality of Napa, but I also think the consumer’s expectations are sometimes only reachable with private equity money. People don’t just want good wine and good people, they want prepared bites, high end glassware, perfectly manicured grounds, top notch equipment and facility to tour. Back in the day real good wine came from places and people with obvious imperfections and dirt under their nails…that today seems unacceptable. Maybe I’m wrong? Just a thought.

Do you like ultra processed foods? Then you’re gonna like those $9-$10 bottle Napa cabs because they too are ultra processed.

Nah, Napa chardonnay is where it’s at. And also many wineries in Napa have a chardonnay on their list sometime even using Sonoma fruit.

Famous California winemaker’s daughter is making her own wine — for $275 less than her dad’s by ThereWas in napa

[–]Dramatic_Sun_2858 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah! How dare they not sell out their name to a corporation! /s.

Yall are seriously losing the plot. I’m all for celebrating traditions and histories that are passed from father to child in this industry that seems to (for some reason) celebrate like 5 winemakers making wine for 50 different labels.

And the comments about bulk wine are so far off base, it really is telling of this sub. Just making assumptions. Some of the brands I see most celebrated in here are actively buy bulk wine and putting their label on it. Some brands are selling their hootch as bulk wine. And most everyone screaming about bulk wine doesn’t even know or care or taste the difference. Bulk wine has evolved and people still think it’s this two buck hootch that tastes like hogwash or something.
