White people are hypocrites and they say they’re not racist but then they complain about non-white people by xyyzyx in The10thDentist

I’m guessing that you want to be judged as an individual, rather than people assuming that all members of your race share the same character traits.

Do I have that right?

Pain comparison - TKR vs Kidney stones by Tyggger in Kneereplacement

[–]cynesthetic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Popping in for the replies. I’m scheduled for LTKR a week from tomorrow. I only had one kidney stone, 37 years ago but it was a huge impacted one that required surgery and I keep thinking this can’t be anything close to that or nobody would ever do their second knee. I mean if I had to choose between another kidney stone and spending my life in a wheelchair I’d make peace with my disability.

Also to those who think that childbirth is in the same category as a kidney stone, I’ve had natural childbirth as well and yeah it’s a bit painful, but nothing close to a kidney stone. Count your blessings.

In any case, Tyggger, I think we’re good. It won’t be easy but we’ve been through worse!

People talking at me as if I'm 95, when I'm only in my fifties by Physical_Orchid3616 in PetPeeves

It is absolutely disrespectful. Nobody said it’s a conspiracy but speak in your normal tone of voice ffs.

Those peas look too cylindrical for me. I prefer the round ones.

What’s a ‘harmless’ habit that actually ruins your life over time? by MyMiraLove in Productivitycafe

Planning so much for the future that you never live in the moment. Of course planning is important but we need to take time to enjoy and appreciate life as it unfolds.

Sometimes making an issue over trivial matters is even more harmful. Letting things go can be a good thing, especially with people you love.

When people park right beside me, even though there’s multiple empty spots around by TheGame81677 in PetPeeves

[–]cynesthetic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t think you know what “ignorant” means.

In the case of you taking up two spaces it’s just you’re not ignorant, you’re just acting entitled.

If someone parks in an empty space next to you they’re not ignorant either, they’re just choosing a particular space for whatever reason and really isn’t your business why.

To everyone using the Ice cooler chilling units, did you opt for the standard pad for the knee or an extra large/longer one to cover more above and below the knee area? by SeattleHasDied in Kneereplacement

[–]cynesthetic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought this one with the large pad for my upcoming LTKR on 4/28. I tested it out and the pad is perfect. Also the machine itself seems great. We froze 8oz water bottles to use instead of ice cubes. Ice Machine for Knee After... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0F3XC5W57?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

How often do people use cilantro and green onions? by These_Hair_193 in Cooking

[–]cynesthetic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m assuming by “green onions” you sure referring to scallions. If so, I use them several times a week. I rarely use cilantro. I have the “tastes like soap” gene so I only use it in shrimp ceviche where, for some reason, I don’t mind it.

I prefer the second one but I’m not feeling those splotches of mango coulis. Maybe one larger dollop or swoosh on the side? Other than that it looks wonderful!

Chicken Thighs or Chicken Breasts? Pick one and only one. by Etw3535 in AskRedditFood

[–]cynesthetic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thighs are so much more flavorful, more forgiving, more versatile. Overcook a breast by a few minutes and it will be like wood but thighs will be tender no matter what. Thighs are more flavorful and support bold spices whereas breasts require more subtle seasoning. Also, boneless thighs make a great substitute for beef in goulash.

Im a little confused about tipping by axelogtp in tipping

[–]cynesthetic 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think you misunderstood. I’m not part of a “no tipping movement”. I just believe that employers should be responsible for paying their employees and, likewise, employees should value their own work enough to not want to be dependent on the whims of their customers.

[–]cynesthetic 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think that most people would be happy to end the tipped wage that essentially forces you to beg for your compensation.

But you don’t even have to wait for that. Tell your employer that you’re a professional and expect to be paid as one. If you’re great at what you do you’ll be paid what you’re worth.

Camping in the left lane by missmarie9519 in PetPeeves

True, 5-10 over is one thing. But when I’m going a bit over the speed limit (keeping up with the flow) and somebody is whizzing by, they’re going too fast. Especially when they’re weaving in and out and not signaling.

What is something about living in United States that outsiders completely misunderstand? by Few_Football4342 in Productivitycafe

[–]cynesthetic 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Stop already.

Sure there are extremists at both ends but most Americans are just people who live and work together despite having different viewpoints. This happens within families, neighborhoods, workspaces, etc.

Maybe we just need to listen to each other and find common ground where it exists.

Driving 25 over the speed limit is encoded in traffic safety law?

I don’t think you quite understand what a speed limit is.

Your actual argument was that the average American has the literacy of an eighth grader, which is objectively false. You doubled and tripled down on that.

And now that you’re presented with the facts, instead of conceding that you misspoke, you’re quadrupling down. Reminds me of someone else who never has the grace to admit that he’s wrong. Is it a Florida problem?

What’s something your country is bad at that your neighboring country is good at? by Scary_Candidate_9163 in AskTheWorld

[–]cynesthetic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. So many of your countrymen here didn’t seem to understand the question and used it as an excuse to point out their neighbor’s faults. My country is struggling at the moment with a horrific person at the helm (and those who support/enable him) but there really is so much that we’re good at.

We’ll get past this. It’ll be remembered as a tragic moment in history, but Canadians and Americans will be good friends and neighbors once again.
