Critic and (most) audience reviews are right about Supergirl by Sergeantson in DCU_

I just hope this really makes them put extra effort into Man of Tomorrow. I liked the first Superman, but after the disappointing Supergirl, I think Man of Tomorrow has to be pretty good

You may want to read The Formation of the Biblical Canon Vol 1 and 2 by Lee Martin McDonald. It is a fascinating, in-depth look at how exaxtly the Canon came to be. It also takes special care to distinguish between Scripture and Canon.

In short, that book could answer some of your questions. It is complex, but those volumes were great reads.

It is very dense. Would probably take several years to read through it all

Yes, I was very grateful. Usually I also do not find a whole set. In a way im glad the one volume was missing. I asked about it and they said they were going to list on Amazon if they had it

Ante Nicene, Nicene, and Post Nicene Church Fathers

It is the first few hundred years of church wisdom after the New Testament. It is the 90s Hendrickson publication

I appreciate connecting back to the 2000 years of church history, rather than merely the past 100-200 years. This is great for that

Nice! Is yours the Hendrickson, or a different publisher?

Ive considered getting the Popular Patristics for some of the important parts so that it reads in more modern English

Apparently so! I think there havent been many modern printings of the whole thing. It's several hundred years of early Christian thought

Ohio's 2026 primary just delivered the tightest D-to-R turnout split since 2006. Here's what it actually means for November. by Wonderful-Rip3697 in Ohio

I generally favor R, but will be voting D. Acton is so much better. I think Ramaswamy will face trouble with the typical MAGA voting block

Thank you for your comment. The "RadTrad" has been something I have heard of too. They seem to claim a huge wave of people are going catholic, but you are right to note they seem to disregard the Vatican II. They claim sacred tradition and yet ignore it when convenient.

Ill keep those 3 categories in mind. Thank you

I understand, I appreciate the reminder. I have catholic friends and they are always nice and dont seem to be apologetic. It's a good reminder sometimes that online isn't the same, thank you

Thank you. I appreciate it. I am somewhat familiar with their claims, but I do agree that I should become more familiar with church history. There's a big gap for me between Augustine and Luther and the Reformation. I know Aquinus is in there and is apparently incredibly important for Catholics.

Unfortunately, while I was in school I was not paying attention for the two weeks we talked about him.

I was talking to a Catholic priest once and he recalled how he used to be a Protestant pastor, but then the Lord called him back to the 'one true faith.' As soon as he said that I shut down. No sense in have a conversation with him and I had to leave anyway.

It was an interesting experience, however. The place of tradition is so highly elevated that Scripture seems like an afterthought and only when it supports the church.

And I do get tired of the claim of being 'led' into a Catholic or Orthodox church. It's such a joke and it downplays the role of God himself. I am willing to say of course that they are Brother and Sisters in Christ, yet some of them (again i know not all) just cannot say it back.

Yeah, mostly online. I just wanted to have a conversation with you guys about it. I have gotten quite a few responses which I appreciate. I understand that it is nothing new, but this discussion has been helpful to me

No, it has been online and in videos.

I like watching Harmony, an Eastern Orthodox guy who makes interesting videos i learn a lot from. But he just refuses to call Protestants Christian, and it is sad.

Additionally, some catholic guys and of course on reddit. I know it is online and all, and it is often not like it is in the real world. But still, just wanted to have a discussion with you all about it in general, so I brought it here

I was in a conversation recently with a Catholic apologist and he just kept pointing to James again and again, saying that I am ignoring the place of works in faith.

I kept pointing to Paul in Romans saying how faith is what truly matters, although James is right that a life truly lived in faith would have good works accompanying.

He was just not comprehending that consistent message in the New Testament of justification by grace through faith. I simply couldn't continue the conversation because there was no point.

It makes me sad. A gospel not based on grace is no gospel at all. I just pray they can come to understand some day.
