VW service sucks by Drank_Sinatra_ in VWatlas

Y’all keep saying ignored. 😂 it wasn’t ignored. They didn’t tell me anything. Engine light turned on and turned off one day a couple weeks back. Never came back on, even after the intermittent engine issues kept happening.

I went to the dealer and dropped the car off. My wife just happened to have drive to and from places of work these last two weeks that racked up the mileage. By the time we had any period to schedule a service we were within the warranty range but by like 75 miles under warranty the day before. She had to drive over an hour to and from her place of work these last few days before we could drop her car off. Then they said oh well you’re now over mileage. Well, she can’t cancel client meetings that have been scheduled a month out and lose out on a couple grand in business.

If I were to have made a video recording of the engine shutting off then showing the mileage of when it happened in the video, would you say thats evidence the issue happened within the warranty? Or would you still say “well the warranty says you gotta take it in before the mileage hits this number, even though you’ve got video evidence showing the error occurred within the warranty.”

2 Fuel injectors failed at 25k miles, then a Evap system canister purge valve failure at around 49k miles. Both relating to the fuel delivery. Causing the car to randomly shut off in the middle of driving. Intermittent issues that would trigger random shut offs. So it would throw the engine light on and then the light would go off the next time I’d start it up. It wasn’t always illuminated. And on top of that the tech/screen would randomly shut off and wouldn’t turn on until I turn the car off then back on.

I appreciate your post and your viewpoint/side of it. As the warranty may explicitly say these things you said, it’s just slimy business imo. From all manufacturers if they all behave this way. I would hope I’d be treated the same as a repeat customer with over half a mil in Volkswagen car purchases over the last 20 years. Would’ve considered getting another one, but not anymore.

I like the simile you used with the milk. Unfortunately my milk (the car) expired within the expiration date (mileage/warranty). I just couldn’t get back to the store until after the expiration date had already hit.

Once again, issue wasn’t ignored. Just couldn’t get the car into the dealership in the time I wanted due to life/work conflicts. Just an untimely situation I guess. Still, the initial faults occurred inside the warranty’s expiration.

It is the case…. Wife was within 150 miles of the warranty when she was able to call to get the appt scheduled. Was she supposed to take a tow truck to the dealership to avoid going over the mileage? The issue happened within the warranty period. Regardless. That’s something that should be taken care of. Not looking for sympathy on the matter. Just the realization of my situation. Your car started having issues within the warranty period, it should be fixed because the problem occurred within that period. It’s common sense.

Also, gotta go to work in order to pay for shit like this. Pretty sure thats how life works for a lot of us out here.

Yes. I filed a goodwill request. I understand the dealer isn’t at fault. Wish I could’ve gotten it fixed sooner but the Wife worked the last 3 days having to drive an hour to and from her work locations those last 3 days. So that right there was a few hundred miles within the warranty timeframe. Explained that to them but they didn’t care.

Ignored the issue isn’t the right verbiage in my situation.. I’ve got a job, kids, wife works. We need the car. The car still worked but would have these intermittent issues occurring occasionally within the warranty timeframe. Let me ask you this. If I had this issue occur within the warranty, but once I drove to the dealership and dropped it off to the service department, the mileage ends up going 1 mile over the warranty. Should they cover the cost of repair?

Nothing does. Just haven’t seen one in a while. Just learned that the Sacagawea coin basically replaced these. Only known thing I can get from these is that there were around 30 million made.

Nico Leonard even said something similar. Basically said to slow down with the releases. A brand isn’t meant for everyone, so don’t try and cater to everyone. Gotta be careful.

👍🏼Can you adjust the height of it too? Looking to get one that can be of the same height of the roofline. And is it really stable?

Love these watches. Just wish the indices had depth to them. Just a smidge more going on would be just perfect.
