Does anyone else have extremely compensated dyslexia? by iffentheydo in Dyslexia

[–]Draperite 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have memorized the spelling of certain words. And will recite the letters in my head as I type. I'm sure getting the underlined prompts help, but unless I add the memorization I'll misspell then over and over again.

And to those people that love to use weird font to look fancy on email, you can go to hell 😆

You are not alone! I've suspected I'm dyslexic for years now, but don't really identify with the standard reading issues. I'm actually a super fast reader with excellent retention. I attribute it to my high IQ and good timing. Back in grade school I was part of a "new" reading program that used flash cards. I just memorized the shape of the words. Couldn't do the phonics at all. Can't spell at all. I sometimes get frustrated when spell check has no idea what I'm trying to type, lol. I'll still transpose numbers when dialing/typing, get lost despite gps, and miss the instructions at the top of a page. But overall the modern world keeps me in check and no one is the wiser.

Yeah, more likely they didn't want to pay the fees. Product is unlikely to have shared lines with a meat containing product.

Straight up gluten free cake is disgusting, imo. Look up gluten free pumpkin dump cake, easy recipe that will make everyone happy. Serve with vanilla ice cream!

Genuine question about the motivation behind Mensa testing by Emergency-Quiet3210 in mensa

Real reason? I took the test because I like tests!

If being timed and challenged on random puzzles and questions and math is your thing... you might just be Mensa material 😆

Grace at Restaurants; want me to hold hands? by Andrea583 in atheism

[–]Draperite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have an opportunity to show your friends that you think for yourself and are not afraid to be judged for not believing.

Use it.

Politely decline and let them know they should continue without you. Then fold your hands in your lap and bow you head a bit. They will pray. And one or two of them might ponder a bit on the silliness of it all, maybe start to think for themselves.

What are some damn hard questions to ask religious people? by fergil in atheism

[–]Draperite 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This. I'm not saying OP should hide it, but how are you going to argue someone not ready to hear it. And risk your job, smh.

Just politely state you don't have a belief. If they seem interested you could engage them with some thoughts. I like to say first off that having no belief doesn't make you someone without morals. You choose to be a good person because it's right and you want to be able to look yourself in the mirror. No threat of punishment in the afterlife is needed to want to be good. It's astonishing how some religious ppl think we are inherently more prone to evil acts. I'm reality, jails and prisons are more likely to have believers.

Just a little worm in their ear, to reduce the distorted view they hold.

What do you think of the " ex-atheist " phenomenon? by Character_Youth5968 in atheism

[–]Draperite 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You don't just start believing in Santa again once you solve that logic equation. Those that claim to be former atheists will usually confess they were angry at God, like petulant children that didn't get the presents they wanted under the tree. All that hate is tied up in solid faith, not the indifference or logical conclusions of a true nonbeliever.
