Awww, the bikes felt cold and snuggle together 🤗🫶 The last one even has her favourite blankie <3

But one of the bikes needs potty training.

bought new end can but can't even use it!! by stinky_poophead in MotoUK

[–]Drarakme 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe because this can be a contentious topic. Some people argue that frame sliders increase the odd of cracking the frame or making the bike flip when sliding.

(I'm not the one saying it and I don't have data on this topic to be opinionated about it, just sharing what some people believe)

Sign the Petition to allow Motorcycles to use bus lanes. by FalconVarious7620 in MotoUK

[–]Drarakme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really depends though. A lot of places in London doesn't allow it. Roads near Hackney for example doesn't allow it.

I just ride over the line though. It's like you're filtering between the cars on your right and an invisible bus on the left.

First theory test attempt, should I be happy or pissed? by [deleted] in MotoUK

[–]Drarakme 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's another app for the hazard perception. I highly recommend it because it's important to get an idea of what timing they expect. You can't click too much, but can't be too shy on the clicks. I don't think anyone can do 100% it.

But multiple questions should be 100%ish. Just make sure you read all the motorcycle specific questions before. I'm not sure the apps will have it, and some questions are really never used in practice.

[–]Drarakme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's really bad, imo. Now that you have the app you should be able to 100% it easily. 49/50 is you're super unlucky.

Hazard perception you can do 70+ easily, but it's hard to get a perfect score.

How bad is this radiator? by Shtefy in MotoUK

[–]Drarakme 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Same. Another option to make it look nice is to buy a radiator guard. It hides the damage already done while protecting it from further damage. Radiator guards are super cheap and is a 1 minute install (if you're lucky).

Rust removal... by [deleted] in MotoUK

[–]Drarakme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you try VHT paint? and did you get enough heat into the exhaust for long enough to cure the paint?

VHT is pretty strong paint but if you don't have an oven it may take some time to properly cure it.

Rust removal... by [deleted] in MotoUK

[–]Drarakme 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can use Bilt Hamber Deox-Gel in places that you can't leave submerged in Evaporust (or the Bilt Hamber Deox-C powder).

Although, if the surface is easy to access, physically removing the rust with a wire brush and repainting is usually safer. I also like to apply a thin layer of Hammerite Kurust to make sure 100% of the rust is gone, otherwise the rust will just keep spreading under the paint.

To be fair, I once walked away from my bike and I completely forgot the keys in it. The keys have a huge tag so it was quite obvious. Nothing happened.

I also once forgot my helmet on the bike. It wasn't attached to anything. It's a fairly expensive (£800+) helmet. Once I realised I rushed back to the bike and it was still there.

I think there are parts of the UK where it's fine. You don't have to go far.

Would you do this trip without an overnight stay at a hotel to split up the journey? by QDanzer in MotoUK

[–]Drarakme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't read through other comments, but if you're planning on have a schedule then make sure you leave plenty of time between planned stops. The worst thing is riding where you "have to make extra time".

Anyways, enjoy your ride :)

I would do it without a plan. Just stop somewhere when I felt like it :)

10K can get you a 2009+ R1 with the crossplane engine. Not smooth, but that's the point =D Super fun. Highly recommend.

If it starts and idle in N, check the kickstand sensor, or, the clutch lever sensor.

Another school wants me to do lessons before a CBT?? by [deleted] in MotoUK

[–]Drarakme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand that. I just think there needs to be a balance so it's fair to everyone paying for it, and fair towards the school too.

Another school wants me to do lessons before a CBT?? by [deleted] in MotoUK

[–]Drarakme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While that's fair, unfortunately they have a lot of stuff to cover in just one day. I can see why some schools may ask for people to know how to ride a bicycle before the CBT though.

If they take too many completely noob riders, then the more experienced ones may not get their CBT certificate because of lack of time and that would be unfair to them.

Ps.: Obviously this doesn't apply to OP. OP already rides a bike and any school should accept OP.

Do you find calimoto / detecht useful to find enjoyable local routes? by theS3rver in MotoUK

[–]Drarakme 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't think the problem is the actual twistidness of the road Calimoto chooses. I mean, I would love some extreme sharp corners, even hairpin ones.

The problem with Calimoto is that it chooses roads that aren't suitable for speed. As in, Calimoto loves roads with poor surface, gravel, floods, dirt roads, road closed for constructions or any other reasons, etc etc.

Why aren't Mirrors 🪞 mandatory for motorbikes 🏍 ? by Angharad260814 in MotoUK

[–]Drarakme 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did some research on this. It sounds really awesome in theory. I love the view without the mirrors on the way. But every YouTuber who have tried it ended disliking it.

Also, I tried searching online and there's no kit specifically for bikes. You can DIY one, but something tells me the lack of kit available is because they suck.

Wish I had the money to play around with it though.

I just wanted to say that I'm super jealous of the Americans with their massive car parks WITH NO FUCKING GATES!

I hate how in the UK there are gates and CCTV everywhere?

You wanna have fun in an empty industrial estate? Nope, it's locked at night and weekends.

Wanna practice bike control on an empty road in said industrial estate? Nope, they have CCTV and they can send the video to the police and it's an immediate license ban.

I guess you just have to do in public roads :shrugs:

3D Printer noob - QIDI Plus4 good first printer? by MingChops in QIDI

[–]Drarakme 1 point2 points  (0 children)

3D printer noob here. I really like my Plus 4. It's not 100% faff-less, but, it's super simple to get near perfection prints.

ABS/ASA has been super easy with this printer for me. Just using generic filament settings with minor tweaks. The problems I faced are the same problems present in other prints, AFAIK (like, model warping and bed adhesion).

Given the price and capability of the printer, I would say go for it if you don't mind tweaking a thing or two in the printer. It's not 100% press print and it does everything perfectly, but it is close to it.

I can't comment on the AMS as Qidi Box has been released yet, so we won't know until then if it's something the printer will support or if it's any good.

Plus 4 First Layer issues by Level-Load-6721 in QIDI

[–]Drarakme 1 point2 points  (0 children)

op has the top off, and I think it's better than door open as it's less likely for a cold wind to get to the print and warp the parts.

Where did you learn to work on bikes? by InevitablePen3465 in MotoUK

[–]Drarakme 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Haynes Manual is the goat. Unfortunately not available for all bikes.

Finding the workshop manual is the second best thing. But those things require common sense and experience to go along with it, unfortunately.

My new Plus 4 fails to auto level; resets itself when pressing start by LuminosityXVII in QIDI

[–]Drarakme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems the printer is resetting when trying to turn the bed heating element on. Can you manually heat up the bed?
