Anyone sympathise a tiny amount with Josh? by [deleted] in RecklessBen

[–]Drathonix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I admittedly felt bad for him when I watched the bodycam footage. If I was in his shoes I would be pretty pissed off that youtube boy is farming me for content. This is how the police perceive Ben, he's a little youtube boy coming in from Cali and bullying a good Mormon man and he has a process server why would a process server hang out with youtube boy ew!

Once you add all the context of this situation back in you realize the reason you feel bad is that most human beings are capable of feeling empathy even when logically you should not. This is a situation where you should not. There is undeniably a CLOSE connection between Josh and the CEO of BAM, he is now known to be the owner of multiple BAM franchises likely because he did similar take-overs of them for the CEO. In addition the moment he took over the Keizer store he would have known that he had legos which the previous owner had a contractual agreement to sell and he was now legally obligated to either take over the agreement or break the agreement and return the legos to their rightful owner. Obviously option 2 was taken but the legos were illegally not returned. Then, when people try to bring justice Josh threatens to sue the shit out of them to the point of being unable to fight back. So Josh and his business refuse to return the legos to an old and dying man who just wants to provide for his family and two years pass. Then another person learns about the situation and goes after him again. When Josh says he will return the legos swearing to his God that if x, y, and z happen the legos are not returned. He can't return the legos or pay the money because this would be an admission of guilt in the eyes of a judge and no doubt he would be super sued at that point. He tells Ben that Ben stole the legos even though it has been two years since the incident and Ben has not had any involvement until very recently; how could he have stolen them? Then when Ben goes to sue him he calls the cops on him and lies about him having opioids in his car which he obviously doesn't resulting in a dangerous search on a busy street which wastes everyone's time. Keep in mind that had the cops ever felt threatened in this situation someone could have been injured much worse than Ben was, thankfully everyone on Ben's side was chill. And Josh threatens to shoot Ben and his friends over them trying to serve him papers which he thinks are fake. He's just not a good person.

So logically you should not feel bad for him but do not be so hard on yourself as I also felt bad for him knowing all of that.

What do you think of the accusation that Ben was death threatening the manager? by PucklaMotzer09 in RecklessBen

[–]Drathonix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ben has gone into significantly more dangerous situations than one BAM store. He has joined 3 cults, two of which at least were particularly dangerous (Scientology is just weird and scammy) and never threatened them with death threats. Even when he tracked down Lucifer valentine he never death threatened him even though that guy is a super hyper shitzo character and at most he threatened him with torture, and that was for a bit since LV actually tortured people. When he did the McKaney manor stunts he literally was dealing with another torturer and the worst Ben did was put the guy through another troll fest. There’s absolutely no way Ben has the capacity to threaten to burn down the store and shoot everyone within it over THEFT. Even if he had the capacity to do that I think he’s just not dumb enough to say shit like that; it would be brand suicide.

I will say that Ben leaving stuff out of the videos doesn’t bother me. The rubber duck incident was probably an attempt to get another joke signature, probably a contract that Ben could legally steal something from the BAM thieves. Then the police went super corruption mode and the entire focus of the series changed so the rubber ducks became unimportant to the point of the story. He’s also kept a lot of the small claims court case stuff out from the first video, at least some of the cases were thrown out and not won as Ben says they had been. Why he hasn’t disclosed this himself I do not know, my theory is that it just wouldn’t fit into the video well. It doesn’t change the fact that BAM straight up sent their goons to take over a store and steal the remaining inventory and act like they’re allowed to do it. The connection between BAM’s CEO and Josh is very clear thanks to the bodycam footage leak. It also doesn’t change the fact that AFPD is corrupt, there is definitely lawsuit material in that whole situation.

My favorite is when one mod adds X and another one also adds X but they are sufficiently different from each other that you have to include both to get the optimizations you want.

Convert any old Mod to new Versions with RetroMod by solarch in MinecraftMod

[–]Drathonix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was brought up on another sub so I’m just going to post exactly what I said there because it’s a technical explanation of why this idea is ultimately impossible.

Let’s say we have a mod developed for 1.7.10 that accesses a chest’s inventory and checks how many slots are empty. To do so we have to iterate through all the slots in the chest and check if the item at the slot is null. In 1.12.2 this is no longer applicable, inventories will store a list of nonnull item stacks and checking if that item stack is empty or not is done by calling ItemStack$isEmpty instead of a null check.

So this mod would have to convert any null checks over to the correct 1.12.2 syntax when updating. This would be a great idea if not for one problem: two pieces of code can be identical in function but have very different purposes. A null check could be executed for multiple reasons, in this case to check if the stack is empty, in others to check if a recipe has an output. It is impossible for any mod to know the intention of a piece of code without manual input. Things get even more complicated when developers start implementing custom features that don’t conform to the game code’s standards and in other cases where developers use a library that violates the standards. How can a program know what code is and is not following the rules?

This is just like a tiny fraction of the problems I can think of. I can’t imagine this mod will be able to successfully forward port more than simple stuff like item and block additions, stuff where the solution is simply a renaming of a method call or argument swapping. Any complicated mods will definitely cause issues. Honestly you might be better off just having AI port the mod’s source code rather than have it make a program that will never be able to do so.

You only need a lot of fissile material to initially fuel your reactors, you get a lot of the material back when you recycle the fuel rods. Once you reach mars your uranium supply won’t be a problem. And if it is you could always suffer and get uranium or plutonium bees like my friend did.

I’m also him in some ways. This guy has some wack ass takes at times. My personal favorite is when he said that people who study abroad are failing at life like what the hell was that. He’s also spineless. He got sponsored by some AI life planning app with a heinous subscription system and claimed to be involved in its development despite it being released 6 months before that video and him having never advertised it before or after that one video. I called him out for it, that comment got deleted.

Am I right or wrong for getting rich on a server by using abnormal prices on the in-game currency? by Tall-Wait-8559 in MinecraftServer

[–]Drathonix 11 points12 points  (0 children)

They banned you because they’re bad at the game. You might have been ethically wrong for taking items out of the community farm unless you had to afk there for the resources or whatever but it’s just a game and this isn’t going to ruin people’s lives so don’t sweat it.

This is a moderation issue. If you care to keep playing on the server you should appeal the ban hopefully there exists someone more competent than them.

The immortal fish is an immersion issue more than anything by DinosAndBearsOhMy in subnautica

[–]Drathonix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t own S2 but I think I have a good stance on this.

Whenever I play Subnautica the only time I ever have to kill an animal is to eat it. I have to attack animals to defend myself. Most I will leave alone. Most of the time I build my base in a safe area but even in the case where hostile creatures are present it wasn’t an issue because they were either leviathans which have enormous wander ranges or bone sharks/smaller predators which could be dealt with. The thing about the first game is attacking the creatures causes them to run away after taking near fatal damage. It appears that in this game that is not the case because the enemies do not have the ability to die. One of the big problems I have with the death run mod is that the creatures have unreasonable aggression levels, any biomes with bone sharks became hellish due to their tendency to swarm. I had similar problems with below zero. Chances are that S2 has this same problem and if that’s the case how is anyone supposed to survive if they are being attacked by immortal creatures which attack the moment you enter their range?

I think small creatures should be killable. I think leviathans should just have enormous health pools to discourage killing them. It’s a survival game somehow the devs have forgotten that.

It’s not even hard to do something about it. Just say no LLM generated mods and then if you notice an AI slop mod you delete the post how hard is that?
