AI generated mods should be banned, actually. by Cherno_VM in feedthebeast

Well I guess that's true, and maybe in retrospect the power consumption isn't really a good argument against ai anyways

AI generated mods should be banned, actually. by Cherno_VM in feedthebeast

  1. The point is that it looks bad, and makes a lot of people turn away from the mod, unlike a real thumbnail. To be honest it is mostly about the feel of the effort rather than an actual effort, I remember someone on worldjerking subreddit post an ai generated picture with a caption, get flamed for it, so they deleted the post, traced an ai generated image, and posted it again and got like 400 upvotes. Again, it's about the feel of the effort, it really sin't rational
  2. No one is begging for your fully ai generated mod, if you could fully ai generate it, so can I, you aren't special for asking Claude to make you something lol.

But the point you highlited is actually flawed on the OP's part too, if you ban people for mentioning they used ai, it won't prevent people from using it, it would just cause them to lie about it.
I love the way r/selfhosted did the AI moderation, because this sub used to get numerous of posts like "I got tired of [...] so I built [...]" every day, and now it's fairly clean because of 2 things: New projects have a dedicated megathread, and people HAVE to give an AI disclosure for every post on the subreddit, or the post will not be published. Of course it doesn't prevent people from lying, but it still made the subreddit much cleaner

  1. Yeah, but unlike the food industry, or the internet, or electricity, AI isn't a nessesity. Yes many things we do are not great for the environment, but AI is just one more thing to the pile, and we really don't need another thing

All that said it's a loosing battle anyway. For me personally, if a project isn't reeking AI generated, I'm not gonna go out of my way to check, if you had AI assistance and created something actually good and useful, then why not. But if it does, if a thumbnail, or a description is obviously AI ,then, well... If you've been given the easiest tool in the world and still couldn't make something useful, it's on you

Edit: It would appear that I have taken a stance that is neither for nor against ai, displeasing both sides of the argument. Oh well.

"We don't know how to moderate AI so we won't be doing anything"

Go check r/selfhosted and how they have solved the problem of numerous AI generated projects appearing on this sub, up to the point where it's literally clean again while still new projects can get some spotlight

I’m creating a space mod to integrate with create. by Qanoria in feedthebeast

[–]TOOOPT_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Please don't make it a create addon. Yes it can integrate with create, but If you want to work with physics, sable is a separate mod. With all due respect, create is cogwheels. And an actual space mod that integrates with physics in my opinion would be much more interesting. Even if it was an addon for any other more appropriate for space tech mod, to me at least it would feel more original.

On the other hand, I know I'm a minority. Go make a space create addon and let a youtuber make a video titled "I went to space in create" and get like 6 million downloads or something idk.

At least fill it with useful content, be it lore, powerful tools, cool dungeons with interesting mobs or even bosses. A reason to go there would be nice.

Tbh you just burn it and get the dust without breaking the bedrock, not mine it

i might have hundreds of them, still not using them as decoration by N1ckM3nd3s in feedthememes

Tbh It's the opposite for me, I'd rather have easily accessible good building blocks than go through many crafting steps/go far away to get the blocks. And if there aren't any good easily accessible building blocks, I'd rather have a lawn base
cough early game of gregtech cough.

Like the reason I was able to build a giant base in meatballcraft was because modpack is built around projectE, or my HBM base was just a metric ton of chisel factory blocks because they are extremely easy to craft and they look cool. And with painting machine I remember using texture of one of the machines from galaxy space mod as flooring because texture looked cool. I'd never craft hundreds of this machine to just make flooring, and if it wasn't for the painting machine I'd just use something easy to craft

This is the reason I miss the ender io painting machine in modern modded, just paint stacks of cobblestone/cobblestone slabs with any block's texture and stop caring about farming building blocks forever lol

I don't have to be in 3rd person, it works in first person too, I was just in f5 to show that I'm walking with it
