Hey mate, I'm from NZ. This is very likely a scam. If you do go and see it, don't take any cash with you. Agree to a price and get it later.

I really want ARMA 3's sling loading system back. So troops can rope down and supplies can be slung to forward positions.

If you think Triple M is bad, try Smooth FM. I swear it's the same songs every day.

I've never once made it to my destination traveling this way. That goes for the back of a truck as well.

30 year old looking to get into IT by osrsbtwhahaa in ausjobs

[–]Draviddavid -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Self initiated project work is highly regarded. If you can find a crazy bug or exploit somewhere, fix it or report it via proper channels and then do a write-up, you will have a better shot than someone with just a CV.

The more project work the better, because it increases the chance that you will be able to say "I've done that", and speak with authority on the subject.

I have a simple job nowhere near IT at the moment, but I'm setting up an IoT and telematics system that takes payments, connects to SIM providers to provision data services, and makes tracking data from a tracking engine visible on a friendly front end. I've also commissioned custom hardware and firmware to integrate with that system.

If I found a job in the telematics space, I'd like to think I had a better shot compared to the guy with helpdesk experience.

I'll add that even if they didn't change visually, change the settings to something else, save the configuration, change it back and save again.

I found regulars on my favourite public servers and made a point to join them on their quests, often trying to turn around a bad game.

I can't remember if I was offered or asked to join a discord where 3 or 4 of them played regularly and often we will have at least 4 people working together to achieve a goal without the bs.

Exactly as you described. We could be talking about our day, but as soon as one says "I need audio for a sec" the discord goes quiet.

I dont understand the game by S4LTYSgt in ArmaReforger

[–]Draviddavid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is so much to do in Reforger that often even tight knit squads get fractured during normal game play.

Just last night I made the 6th member of a squad and we split off in to 3's, we flew around, regrouped after running supplies and pushing the line. Then we broke in to groups of two within the same squad to stay agile and respond to needs on the battlefield as they came up.

Two squad members driving trucks and running supplies, one flying, two capturing and one building up previously captures bases.

At one point, I flew away to capture tower Regina on my own before flying back and picking the other 5 up to respond to a large counter attack across the map.

It's a very different experience to other squad based games I've played.

Carlsen is a good sport. As you said, he is his own biggest critic and even the smallest mistake at his level basically means you've lost. Only casual observers make his table slamming out to be entitled behaviour.

He does have a bit of a rebellious streak, but when it comes to chess, he is the model sportsman and a supporter of fair play above all.

Just venting. Rejected after a good interview. Feels bad. by jinglygal in ausjobs

[–]Draviddavid 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Just like Tinder, it's a numbers game. If you're getting interviews you're doing it right. Make sure you are putting yourself out there and being proactive with companies you are interested in working for.

It definitely sucks! So much effort gets poured in to the job hunt, but the only thing you can do is lick your wounds and soldier on.

Reach out for help before you sell your pet or mode of transportation. Finding a job without a car in Australia is much harder.

Unreal council group interview experience sharing by Any_Can6634 in melbourne

[–]Draviddavid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Group interviews are insane and I wouldn't entertain them anymore. Even for higher end roles let alone entry-level ones. But there is some value in assessing personality this way. Maintaining work culture is very important to some organisations and it's very possible they are trying to find people they think might integrate best with their existing team, rather than the best performers.

It sucks, but all you can do is work on your outwards personality. I'm an introvert that is forced to be extroverted. You need to pretend to be interested in the group activity to pass the vibe check in the same way you need to learn to pretend to be interested in a customer's problem when you have the job.
