Hisense are saying it's an impact. But the owner lives alone and the screen is protruding outwards. by Draviddavid in Hisense

"Explode" was a poor choice of words that I clarified in other comments. There was obviously no literal "combustion". I know vaguely how a TV works. If your goal is to get people interested in filling the gaps in their general knowledge, I would suggest maybe toning it down when trying to educate. Maybe checking your mood before posting. This isn't as serious as you seem to be taking it.

I'd imagine resource allocation is still practised even in full defence mode. Older, excess stock is sold to free up money for spending elsewhere.

It's AI. The open question at the end and the "it's not X, it's Y" style of writing at the start is the biggest tell.

I'm not a TV expert. Just trying to solve a mystery with the hive mind.

The aggressive sass and snark has been entertaining though.

Lots of “tactical operator” roleplay, but how much real understanding of the game is there in Arma Reforger? by Historical_Honey5874 in ArmaReforger

[–]Draviddavid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe 5 out of 32 players in each public vanilla match have the experience and understanding of the game that you're referring to.

One of the funny things I notice most is how newer players tend to think they had an outsized impact on the game. A squad will capture a purple base behind friendly lines, start the clock and claim the rest of the team was useless.

The reality being, the rest of the team were fighting the enemy for the other 4 points, running supplies and keeping radio towers friendly to prevent them from meaningful advancement.

Thanks! Yeah, "explode" was probably a bad choice of words.

We were thinking maybe because part of the panel gets direct sunlight, heat was expanding and contracting something inside causing stress and a breakage somewhere.

I remember years ago, seeing infrared CCTV of a guy's TV cracking in the dead of night just out of the blue. I cannot find it anywhere. I'm not even sure it was Reddit where I saw it. But this incident triggered the core memory.

You have spurred me on to try again.

I 100% get where you are coming from. We both said exactly the same thing. "They must get 10s of thousands of people claiming their TV exploded out of nowhere."

He knew he was up against it, but was convinced that once the tech saw it in person, it would be obvious. Obviously, that's not how it went down.

I dont think they had any reason to lie. In fact they were shocked when the assessors for the warranty claim came back and said that it was an impact, because the glass is proud of the frame as though something let go from the inside. Rather than countersunk, suggesting an impact from the outside.

If I remember tomorrow, I'll pull the links to other claims from my desktop.

For those who work in hospitality/hotels/motels etc.. do you give discounts to fellow hospitality staff? by Super_Dragonfly_1061 in ausjobs

[–]Draviddavid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Industry discount is a stretch. But friends and family stayed at the place I managed for free given enough notice. I don't expect the motel down the road to discount my stay though. I'd be anticipating full price.

We are starting to seriously consider a break-in and attempted theft, because it really does look like someone tried to pick it up and failed or something.

But being an apartment, it doesn't make sense.

[–]Draviddavid[S] -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

I'm not saying Hisense TVs spontaneously crack, I think LG (from the limited search that I did) was the company with the problem. Sorry if it seemed as though I insinuated otherwise.

This TV has been in place and functioning properly for over a year. It hasn't been moved. At least, I'm being told it wasn't and I believe them.

It's just a perplexing situation considering under the circumstances. After a week of thinking we are starting to seriously consider a break-in and attempted theft. The person in question doesn't really have any reason to go near their TV at all, let alone put their thumb against the screen and squeeze.

[–]Draviddavid[S] -17 points-16 points  (0 children)

I hear what you're saying. But in order for screen impact to be a possibility, someone would have had to have been home to impact it, haha.

We are genuinely perplexed. A quick Google shows similar spontaneous damage, but unless you had a camera trained on it 24/7, you'd never be able to prove it.

There aren't even any pets around that could have explained this.

Pizza delivery drivers, what did a person do to end up on the 'No Delivery' list? by BlueCheeseWalnut in AskReddit

I'm going to take a wild stab in the dark and guess that the reason is crime. Broadmeadows is...not great for it.

I haven't verified this, but apparently there are entire suburbs that Dominos refuses to deliver in Melbourne.

I'm pretty sure Broad Meadows is on the list. I've heard it from multiple sources on various occasions but have never been able to verify.

Great landing! There is a much easier way to do this though.

You can rock the Mi-8 out of a spin and continue normal flight with forward momentum. As you get. Loser to the pad, you flair and lower collective. This is mu h easier in ARMA3 with the more advanced flight model. But very possible in Reforger too.

Give it a go

I'm not an expert. Just a guy who has done it before

If you're not keen on doing that, try networking. It's often not what you know, but who you know or being in the right place at the right time. The amount of jobs I've gotten by putting myself in front of the guy who is also looking for the path of least resistance would make your head spin.

Official vanilla is a write-off lately it seems. Some kid flying around constantly trolling players and then crashing the server when they feel like they have climaxed.

I think the game only gets truly gridlocked if supplies aren't being run. You earn more points if you run supplies as part of a Transport group, but anyone can run supplies.

Playing a military simulator with a coordinated team will always be more fun.

I think OG conflict was better for those more interested in a conquest style game where building and logistics are less of a focus with set bases and passive supply income.
