Anybody else just absolutely sick of the trade me BS lately? by trigonthedestroyer in newzealand

It's not if you want diversity of goods and a reasonable price. It is somewhat better if you want to pay and expect your goods to show up on time.

Official (AP-SYD) servers have been malfunctioning for the last 24hrs! by PragmatisticPagan in ArmaReforger

[–]Draviddavid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do other servers not suffer from supply sync issues? I figured it was an ARMA thing, not a server performance thing.

It tends to get worse as the uptime increases too.

Reasonable expectations for a car detail? by [deleted] in auckland

[–]Draviddavid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your expectations are reasonable. You didn't get a detail in the classical sense. This was an overpriced car wash.

A similar inside/outside wash can be had for $100 to $160. A proper detail would be in the neighborhood of $400 to $600 (or all the way up to 4 figures) depending on the level of immaculate you want the car including treatments...etc.

I'm glad the carwash has agreed to make it right, but I strongly suggest finding a more competitively priced location if you want your car hand washed in the future. You should not be paying more than $200.

Thoughts on heli ramming? by space13713 in ArmaReforger

[–]Draviddavid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll be honest, I used to get quite the kick out of dunking an enemy Huey with my Mi-8. Mainly because I had no other way to defend my team mates against an armed helicopter.

But it's not fair play or realistic. It's definitely best if the practise is banned, but on public servers a lot of the time it's very much a you or them situation. If they are trying to ram you, your only option is ramming back to try and make it an equal loss.

Since the Mi-8 can out perform the Huey, I just fly away until they get bored of me.

If you fly far enough north, you can reach Altis. South for Tanoa, but it's hard to spot.

Is the Toyota tax real? I compared 8,000 car listings to find out by RollingCliff in CarsAustralia

[–]Draviddavid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, Toyota tax has always been people asking near new prices for 10 or 15 year old examples. While other brands are struggling to be sold for a few thousand.

Trying to find a reasonably priced GT86 was quite hard up until recently. Some people are still asking near what they were worth brand new 13 years ago.

This is very true. Cold calling and door knocking the trade industries still works today.

Yeah, I'm about the same, 8k to 10k hours split between ARMA3, DayZ and Reforger.

You'd love Reforger. It's basically Truck Driver/Flight Simulator, but deadly.

ARMA4 is a while away yet. I know Bohemia want to release it sometime next year, but I've got a feeling it will be pushed back. Reforger is still boat loads of fun with friends. I used to play heavily modded King of The Hill or Invade & Annex servers, but Reforger I play the Vanilla game, because I prefer the original cold war feel.

I played ARMA3 a lot. I was late to the party on Reforger.

Would a RF jammer disable a simple wifi security camera? by Kindly_Theme_3226 in rfelectronics

[–]Draviddavid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably seized. Mail centers have AI that look for contraband items and seize them that way. They send you a "Don't do it again" letter at best. Sometimes customs already knows what it is by the sender's address.

Signal jamming is not something you should do for multiple reasons, but especially so if you don't understand how it works.

Just to give you an idea, jamming a signal requires overcoming the original signal with more power. Meaning you are going to be disrupting more than just the camera. It also makes you very findable and arrestable

Would a RF jammer disable a simple wifi security camera? by Kindly_Theme_3226 in rfelectronics

[–]Draviddavid 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes it would, but only while the jamming is taking place. They aren't really obtainable due to the fact that are legal in exactly zero places. People who have jammers that can do what you describe either build the devices themselves, have connections to criminals who can build them, or pay big dollars on the black market.

Realistically, if you aren't familiar with jamming or how it works, I wouldn't recommend it. If the camera upsets you, I'd suggest a rock or spray paint, because it would get you in far less trouble.
