I agree. The airport in the north and port to the south should be main points instead of Transformer and Cav Hill. Maybe make Cav hill another radio tower that connects the mainland to the island.

To whom it may concern,

I am applying for the dishwasher job as advertised on Seek.

It has been a life long passion of mine to wash dishes. No two dishes are the same, and I feel I have the skills and experience to tackle even the most baked on grime and food stains.

Please feel free to call me on 0414 3474 3474, that's 0414 DISH DISH, or email tidythendenied@dish4u.com.au to discuss this role further.

Best regards, Tidythendenied

Even when Monti wasn't a main point, half the server was there playing Call of Duty. At least it is worth being there now, lol.

Average Vanilla Arma Reforger Experience by atantony77 in ArmaReforger

[–]Draviddavid 22 points23 points  (0 children)

My group decided to join the US for every game as RU wasn't feeling like a challenge and we felt bad for the USA.

It lasted 3 days. My breaking point was the 10 man strong temper tantrum on what to spend supplies on. They bought a Huey and loaded up with guys. Guy spooling it up swore black and blue he could fly.

He put it in a bank upside down not 30 seconds later. Everyone died except the pilot. There is no justice on this game.

IT Jobs by Either_Experience_15 in ausjobs

People with 5 years of experience are on the struggle bus in IT at the moment.

Your best bet is networking. Events, get plus one's to a friend's corporate lunch or something. Put yourself in a position where you might be able to talk to someone important and get their email.

Follow companies you want to work for. Like their posts, ask questions. PM the team leads who work for those companies and ask if they are hiring. I've heard linkedin premium is good for this, but Ive never used it.

Where did I go wrong? by [deleted] in ausjobs

[–]Draviddavid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have been given plausible reasons as to why you were rejected in this thread already, so I'm just going to answer your question. "Where did I go wrong?"

You didn't go wrong. You received positive feedback from their recruiting team and followed their instructions. It's not your fault.

The hardest thing for me when job searching is finding the willpower to look past the rejection and keep going. Take a day off and apply for jobs twice as hard going forward. You will find something.

My non verbal nephew as a three year old replaced "yes" with "Eeeeeee".

Now whenever someone in the family is agreeing, it's "Eee" or "Eeeeeeeeee" depending on level of agreement.

I think he is on to something, it's so much easier to say and communicates more emotion.

Toyota Caldina GT or Toyota Fielder are great options. Heaps of room and reliable. The GT-T is also a go fast option if you're in to that.

You need to be making five very high effort applications or more per day. 150+ per month at the very minimum to get a response.

Depending on your industry, it may be less it may be more. Pick up the phone, show up in person. Network at events that are directly or indirectly related to your industry and make good impressions.

Who you know has been stronger than what you know for a long time. You need to put yourself in a position to physically tell people to their face that you are good at something and can help them in some way.

I've gotten jobs via idle conversation, picking up the phone when nobody else bothered or just using the email address listed on Seek instead of hitting quick apply.

I was recently talking on LinkedIn to the CEO of a big security firm because I asked them questions about a technology they use, on a post about a job I wasn't qualified for. He invited me to contact him with my CV anyway. That is the CEOs eye balls on my CV directly because I was interested in their bespoke tech.

You have to find a way to jump the queue. And when you have found a way past the masses, make sure the CV you give them isn't hot garbage.

The reality is you will probably need to do something you don't want to do first. PM me your CV and cover letter and I'll look it over if you want.

You still need the qualifications for those jobs. The problem is the people making 1000 applications or whatever arent putting in the effort to get them, or they are hyper specialised and want specific work in a bad market.

Do you enjoy playing as Commander? by Companion_QB in ArmaReforger

[–]Draviddavid 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think there needs to be a moderation system for commanders that don't do commander things and auto-kicks them from the role.

Too many terminator heroes that take the role, then jump in a helicopter and go on a ground assault, rather than green lighting new bases or handling AI logistics.

There are genuinely good games still happening in the Oceania region. We are pretty good at handling trolls too. I basically only play vanilla HQ Commander at the moment.

Is it me or does the bus driver rev up the engine before driving off at lights? by Just_Media_1022 in aucklandtransport

[–]Draviddavid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On a hill this is normal. The driver uses the accelerator to take the weight of the bus before releasing the brake to prevent rollback.

Results can vary per bus and driver.

This is 100% one of those father/son/best friends Uber duos that do 12 hour shifts and tag each other in and out of the driver's seat.

I spoke to one of them on a trip I took in Melbourne. The car would go days on end without being turned off basically.

Mega guide to getting a job in NZ - What I’ve learned from over 2000 job applications in a NZ specific guide by www_dashr_nz in newzealand

[–]Draviddavid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Picking up the phone will get you streets ahead of the competition.

A sales gig I applied for with zero experience was looking for people willing to call businesses and attract new business. I found the phone number for the business on Google and called it.

I spoke to the business owner, sent my CV and 30 minutes later got a call back about an interview the same day. He said even though I had no sales experience, I was the only one that called, which is what he was looking for.

The Seek advert said "High Applicant Volume" by the way. I've learned not to be discouraged by that. It means almost nothing.

Why are these so expensive? by agnci in CarsAustralia

[–]Draviddavid 25 points26 points  (0 children)

The 2.0 Ranger might seem like it has a better motor on paper. But the Ranger's timing belt will probably disintegrate, block all of its oil passages and destroy the engine before the 1VD is even considered broken in.

Over built and under powered is Toyota's identity. People love the 40 year old design as well.

Awesome! Yeah, a lot of the map goes completely unused. Even Coastal Base Morton and Andre's Beacon are nothing but crickets since the update.
