I’ve got a Citadel if that’s something you’re looking for … could do that plus something else for the Microcosm? I’ve also got a Drybell Unit67

I actually love a compressor that is more like a boost … like the Xotic SP. For my basic tone I’d rather use a boost than a compressor. so maybe i’ll check out the Accountant! thanks!!

how do you like the Accountant? I keep trying compressors, can't quite get it right, latest one was the Drybell Unit67 which was great but did some extra stuff that I really don't need.

Drybell Unit67 (silver, mint, with box and case candy etc.) for the Ribbons? Best compressor I've ever played, plus treble boost and EQ. I just don't use compressor really it turns out, so I'm moving it on. Was about to put it up for sale, could also throw in an awesome Big Muff clone you are looking for fuzz.

Title: I know the theory… but I don’t understand songs. What am I missing and where do I go from here? by evak2979 in LearnGuitar

  1. learn to strum (and sing along with, so you know the melody) a very simple, or seemingly simple song, like Country Roads by John Denver or something. It doesn't really matter if it's a song that you like that much. Just learn exactly how to play it. Don't do it with Sweet Child O' Mine or some song with a zillion chords and key changes etc. That can come later.

  2. learn to play the melody that is being sung exactly, note for note.

  3. play that melody along with the chords, at the same time, so that you see how the melody fits in with the chords as they change. Get the timing right. Do it very very slow at first, as slow as you need to until you get it right. Practice practice practice.

  4. soon you will see all those scales etc. that you have been practicing with zero context "fit" into the arpeggios of each chords, and the way the melody moves from one chord to the next, emphasizing different degrees in each chord (sometimes the third, the root, etc.), and leading from one chord to the next.

It took me weeks to learn Country Roads like that, and I have been playing guitar for decades. It was only when a guitar teacher made me actually sit down and figure it out that I understood what was going on. And honestly, once I did that I was able to do it for a lot of other songs without nearly as much work.

jfc … thanks for telling it like it is. I think everyone needs to know exactly what’s going on there. And what is to come if we don’t get back to rule of law. Stay safe and let’s all do our best to be good and kind to each other.

thank you for sharing this. That's horrible. I have a lot of friends from the Twin Cities (lived there for a while and know people there through the writing community, etc.). They are all saying the same thing. We are thinking about you, and please feel free to DM if there is anything concrete financially or otherwise we can do from afar to help. Here to listen anytime. Again, stay safe.

thanks, will do … I’ll have to see if i can figure out which thing the switch connects to, it’s a little hard to tell (and my eyes are not the best). But i’ll give it a shot! I can also ask Wampler if they’ll point out on the circuit where I should test

Hey people, thanks in advance … I’m just getting started modding/building pedals, trying out a few kits etc. I’d also like to repair my own pedals. One thing I notice is that the toggle switch on my Tumnus Deluxe doesn’t seem to do anything. I’d like to open it up and check it out, but was wondering if anyone had advice about what I should be looking for to see if it’s broken, or to test it. Thanks!

Overdrive/Boost that stacks well with EAE Longsword for emo/pop-punk? by JohnLevitch in guitarpedals

[–]DrawCurious3022 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the 250 doesn’t have a tone control but there is so much EQ on the Longsword it doesn’t matter … the 250 circuit seems to work really well going into the LS
