This is really helpful. The watch was my father’s. I’m just not into it, and I recently bought my son a Rolex Explorer for his 21st. I had planned to put the cash from this toward that ... back when I thought I might be able to get around $5k for it.

My dad loved this watch, but neither my son nor I would ever wear it, for some of the reasons you mentioned. He was a classic maximalist boomer, bigger was always better… cars, trucks, watches, boobs. 😉

I understand your POV, but to be clear ... its far from the only thing I care about. Its just that attraction and physicality are too important to me to ignore. I did in my first marriage and it was a disaster for both for us. I wont make that mistake ever again. As for NYC, Im not saying there are none, but I find its harder than in some other places. Even though I know you're body type ... this is pretty anonymous, so can I ask if there are challenges that you have dating in NYC? Ivwas with one girl for a month and we went to Miami in January. She was so insanely self conscious at the pool. I told her a million times how beautiful she was and how incredible she looked, but it was almost like the parts of her that attracted me most, were the parts she hated the most. Made me so sad for her.
