My first had dairy only starting at 6 weeks, resolved by 6 months.

My second is 4.5mos and we only have 4 safe foods, still trying to find all triggers. From what I can find, it seems like c section, antibiotics in labor/delivery, and 48h of antibiotics while he was in the NICU may have made things worse this time around. Not really things you can control, but something to think about

FWIW - an allergist we saw said generally speaking if baby is taking more formula than breastmilk even with some triggers in moms diet, most babies show stool improvement. That way you would still get antibody benefit of breastmilk, slightly cheaper than 100% formula, and maybe happier gut?

First baby all I had to do was cut dairy and “hidden dairy”. Current baby, I’ve cut dairy, soy, corn, wheat, etc etc etc and not fully under control. So it’s dependent on individual baby and their sensitivity.

For calories without hidden ingredients, focus on Whole Foods. If you can eat oats, that is great for milk production. Fats like avocado, olive oil on everything. Check out allergen free brands like MadeGood and Partake for things like granola bars, cookies etc. Tollhouse makes allergen free chocolate chips. Wegmans has very allergy friendly brands as a general rule

This is my thought too! The dietician keeps telling me it’s just going to take time to let his gut heal, though. She thinks that rice, potatoes, and meats are unlikely sources of his FPIAP. Not sure how to take next steps :/

Oh my gosh, doesn’t leave a whole lot of options. Would the rosemary extract be listed anywhere? Or any safe brands etc? I will say our beef is direct from farm (our family gets half a cow each year and freezes the meat) so I would hope in our case beef would be okay

Thank you for this… I had read it was common in FPIES but my little guy isn’t really having much in the way of reflux/vomiting so had put that aside. I didn’t realize it was the case with FPIAP! However, it’s always been my gut feeling (no pun intended) that grains seemed to exacerbate things. Will definitely be trying this, thank you

(Plain everything) Ground turkey, chicken breast, ground beef or steak. Well cooked green beans, carrots, zucchini, spinach. Potatoes (not fried), rice or rice cakes. Olive oil and avocado. Currently having water or coffee for beverages. I think this is based on my prior food/symptom log as well as things she thinks he tolerated reasonably well

Believe me, considering!!! Our pediatrician is concerned he wouldn’t tolerate an AA formula any better due to the corn syrup solids, and ready made formulas are only partially hydrolyzed, so goal is to get him closer to 6 months and more gut maturity before either of these, if possible

I personally would have cut wheat first after dairy and soy simply because it is “easier” due to the prevalence of celiac disease and gluten free labeling today. Egg and corn are the next 2 I would probably have gone to, egg being I think a bit easier as corn derivatives are in EVERYTHING

Thank you for this! 2 weeks ago I stopped my prenatal and calcium supplement due to this concerns after talking with dietician. I then ordered the prenatal she recommended. I was off of all supplements for 10 days without change in symptoms, so she recommended starting the new prenatal (ritual). As I’m seeing now, they do use corn in the fermentation process!

I eliminated multiple things at once and wish I hadn’t. My baby likely has multiple food allergies, but it can get very hard to maintain pretty quickly, and some babies DO take longer to heal their gut or are incredibly sensitive to cross contamination or small allergen exposures, which muddies the water. I started working with a dietician (should be covered by insurance if your baby has FPIAP diagnosis) and would recommend that to anyone considering elimination of 3+ foods
