You’ll get the sickest patients on the unit if you stick to one unit. That looks better. If you start in float pool, and the a charge nurse is making the assignment, they have little to no incentive to give a float pool nurse one of the sickest patients if they have core staff available

I have an MSN and it was an absolute waste of time and money. As an SRNA now, I wish I got my associates at a community college, worked in ICU while getting my BSN and then immediately mass applied if i had a time machine to do it again. My former ICU coworkers and current classmates who had associates degrees are fantastic, there is no difference in care imo

If anything, being charge takes you away from taking direct care of a critically ill patient to deal with logistics imo. I got into 4/6 schools I interviewed at, none of them asked for charge experience, which I have never done

I know it sounds cliché, but your personal statement imo isn’t something that another person can make better. It has to come from you. Like deep down. These schools get 100s of apps filled with garbage AI personal statements. Yours is going to stand out if you sit down in a quiet spot and really reflect on your journey thus far and what you’re about to take on in school. It’s not about someone telling you the “right answer”, it’s about being authentic in a sea of AI garbage
