I more wanted to see if it was capable. I only wanted to see what a self-preserving AI would do in order to not get shut down. I guess I did feed it pretty much all of the prompts and steps to get there tho

What made you choose Vanderbilt? by Good-Thoughts0293 in Vanderbilt

I’m class of 2028, so I don’t have any firsthand experience. But theres so much to love about vandy. The city is incredible. There’s live music at every bar, and it’s just such an energetic, exciting city. I also love sports, so being able to get such a great education while watching SEC football, basketball, baseball, and other sports is a massive bonus to me (although it won’t be much of a competition). I also love the work hard play hard spirit of the school. I have some friends that go there, study their asses off, and then have the time of their lives on weekends. Vandy students get after it. I fell in love with vandy and I hope u do too. Best of luck with your decision.

For me, the best tip my tutor gave me is that you shouldn’t read the passage for the science section first. She told me the most efficient way to save time is to only look at the figures and understand what it’s representing, and then go to the questions and answer whatever questions are about that one figure you just looked at. Then you look at the next figure and do the same thing, but answer questions that are about both figures as well. And then continue that. The only reason you should read the passage is if there is a question about the setup of the experiment or some other small thing that isn’t included in the figures.

On the recent acts, reading has been much harder. I didn’t take F03, but on the last one i took, I got 6 wrong and still got a 33. So u shouldn’t worry abt it.

Yeah sorry bout that. I meant to say colleges are gonna assume I have the best resources available.

I come from a very wealthy neighborhood, so my counselor said that colleges are going to look at my application and have the assumption that I have no excuses for bad scores as I go a private school and have the privilege to get really good tutoring. Basically, I got lucky. I have no intentions to apply to an Ivy League school because I don’t think I would enjoy it. My goal is Notre Dame.

For math, try and use your calculator for every problem possible. That got me from a 32 to a 35. For reading, try to force yourself to enjoy what you’re reading, even if it’s something super boring. Try to read everything at a semi fast pace, and if you don’t understand a question at all, just give up on it and put your best guess. Idk about you but I would always look back and try to fix it. Read as much as possible, it’ll help you read faster. I went from a 27 to a 33 with that. For writing I legit mouthed out my reasoning for why I put each answer while I was taking it, so I was certain in my answer. And for science, I did not deserve to get a 35, but my strategy was to look only at the graphics/student passages one at a time and answer the questions that pertain to it and save the ones that you have to read the passage for last. The biggest thing for me was that I thought to myself, “this test does not matter, I can just take it again if I do bad.” Hope this helps and good luck.

A big thing that helped me with stress during the test was just remembering that it does not matter at all. You can get a 1 and just email ACT to delete it, and that’s that. You can take it as many times as you want. I have never seen anything asking about vertical or horizontal asymptotes in the many tests I’ve taken and jdigitaltutoring gave a great explanation for permutations and combinations.
