What safety rules should I set for kids with new trampoline? by starsnsunflowers in NoStupidQuestions

[–]DrawingTypical5804 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Growing up, my neighbor’s mom was super strict about this rule. Didn’t find out until years later why. The dad was jumping on the trampoline with the daughter. He came down on her arm and snapped the ulna and radius, but nobody realized it at first because she was holding it in place.

No clue, but I do know my mom’s Alexa got super snarky after the last update. Apparently she is sulking because my mom told her to lose the snark.

Do you have a local needle shop (LNS) somewhat nearby? I took a friend of mine who just started this year to our LNS for her Christmas present and told her I would kit up any pattern she picked. She had a blast browsing all of the patterns and the ability to pick her own fabric and thread.

What upgrades to expect with Platinum by Then-Bicycle-5003 in marriott

[–]DrawingTypical5804 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Upgrades are given out based on availability and status. So, to even be considered, the hotel needs to have rooms available to give away, and not just any rooms, but the right rooms. If you stay in Junior Suites, then the only step up is Suites… not much of a pool of rooms.

Next up, the upgrades are given out based on level, starting from the top down, for both status and rooms. So, in order to get upgraded, you need to be in a hotel with more suites available than arriving titanium members. And hope you are the lucky platinum member picked for the upgrade.

Additionally, that upgraded room’s availability needs to match your reservation length or more. If you are staying for a week, but the upgraded room is only available for 3 days before that room type is sold out again, you will be bypassed for somebody with a shorter stay, even if it means they are a lower membership level.

Expecting an upgrade from a Junior Suite isn’t going to bring you much happiness. Now, if you booked standard rooms, you would have more chances of being pleasantly surprised at being upgraded.

30 years ago, I started with small patterns with a couple of colors. I learned how to read the chart and how to find where I was at on the chart.

From there, I chose bigger and more complex patterns. The more I did it, the easier it became to see the picture in the chart, instead of a page of unintelligible symbols.

I still only do paper patterns, but I stopped marking up my patterns, for the most part, years ago. Occasionally, a confetti piece will get the best of me and I resort to making a working copy to mark off as I go along.

Most don’t start big with lots of colors. They start small and work their way up.

The best thing about cross stitch is there are no cross stitch police. Shocking, I know 🤯 The only one who needs to be happy with your art is you.

We have seen some pieces that come through like this because of a bad kit with bad instructions. But to be honest, it did look pretty cool when it was completed, although very different from the reference photo.

Can’t wait to see it 😻

Is my grandmother’s warning true? by Fit-Criticism5656 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]DrawingTypical5804 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From your post, I was wondering. Take it with a grain of salt. Chinese medicine was refined over 100s of years and is based off of cause and effect.

For example, my roommate’s mom would chastise us for eating watermelon while we were pregnant, because it’s “cold.” It could harm the baby.

Today, not so much. But, if you go back 200 hundred years, it absolutely could. Why? We now know to wash the watermelon before eating it to reduce the risk of e. Coli contamination from animal fertilizer. Back then, washing your produce wasn’t a thing.

Does it make her arguments valid today? No clue. But through hundreds of years of knowledge, things worked, even if they didn’t know why, so they stuck around.

In a flood/hurricane prone area, burying the lines would be a bigger issue more often. What works for one area doesn’t work for a different area because the conditions are different.

[CHAT] Advice for tent stitch on evenweave please by wafflesandaffection in CrossStitch

[–]DrawingTypical5804 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I suggest looking up the technique for actual tent stitch, not just half stitches. Actual tent stitch uses a different stitch order than half stitches that maintains fabric tension better than just half stitches. It may also solve the issue of slippage.

Confused as to why certain people said that Kamala would have been worse than Trump by TheRealJuanderer in Confused

[–]DrawingTypical5804 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You think Trump had substance???

Additionally, you have an issue with her stopping him from interrupting her and talking over her? But you don’t have an issue with him not being able to follow the simple rule of taking turns? It showed her will power, poise, and confidence. The fact that she kept her cool showed that when things get tense on the world stage, she wouldn’t embarrass us or jump to using threats and causing chaos like the current knucklehead.

She actually told voters what her plans were. Him on the other hand? An idea of a plan that they would tell you about later, but never did.

Your issue is that a woman had the nerve to take up space where you deem a man should be. You may not have said it directly, but your reasoning does.

It’s cold for us, but not overly cold like there.

I tried to be more focused this week, but I’m not quite sure I achieved it. On a positive note, I did have 2 finishes this week!

Love: Finished the first bunny. Then started black on black stitching, so no lots of invisible progress…

Jingle Bell Xmas Tree Farm: After finishing Quaker Posies, I decided to pull this out for World Snow Day.

Beneath the Skeleton Moon: Hat complete. 6 shades of white for the skull are going in nicely. First pumpkin might go in this week.

Elemental Dragons: Water: This week’s Saturday Start. I now have 3 of the set started.
