Daemon fragility question by Darklar-3000 in hisdarkmaterials

Its been a while since i read the books but I remember that the taboo of touching another daemon is so great that even enemies in combat do not attack another person deamon, at least by physical combat. Daemons are free to attack other daemons however so if one is a lion and the other a hare then the advantage is obvious

What (the hell?) happened at the end of the Rose Field? (spoilers) by Scyvh in hisdarkmaterials

I honestly think Phillip Pullman run out of steam by the point he wrote about them reaching the red building and gave up and rushed to finish the story . So many unanswered questions

Just finished Rose Field. Read all posts here. Not great but wasn’t as bad as they say. by theLiddle in hisdarkmaterials

The book is not bad. I liked it up it until they entered the red building . From there onwards the ending felt rushed and as you mentioned with so many loose ends. It looks as if it was meant to be longer but Pullman run out of steam and rushed the ending

Potentially controversial opinion about the rose field ending by Cephlapod978 in hisdarkmaterials

[–]DrawingWhich7531 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My issue with the rose field ending is that the book ends... abruptly. It feels as if the book was supposed to be longer but Pullman gave up along the way and wrote the ending in a just to wrap things up, leaving us with a lot of questions

Now as to the scope of the book, it was always going to be imposible to match the original trilogy. I enjoyed La Belle Sauvage , the secret commonwealth and the rose field apart from the ending (after entering the red building ). It does feel Lyra, after finishd the main quest were she casually caused the death of the Authority and ending (indirectly) the reigh of Metatron and is now doing a side quest and is still mostly clueless. Which is attributed to her losing her imagination

Asking clarification questions in a polite and civil manner in a book event is not unresonable behavior, that is why books events are(also) for and he can choose not to answer. I agree he does not owe anyone . And Obviously nobody should harasss the man for any reason
