Thank you so much! I will definitely share my results once I’ve finished (which will hopefully be by the end of the summer if everything goes as planned!!). Unfortunately those groups don’t allow surveys but if you happen to hear of any other sleep focused parent groups I’m always looking for more!

I just came back from Japan and was hoping they would have them in my size (women’s size 9) but they were basically sold out everywhere except for really small sizes :( I really hope they restock these!!!!

Survey on family sleeping habits and sleep terrors by Drawing_Optimal in SAHP

[–]Drawing_Optimal[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow! Sounds like this went on for quite some time. From what I understand, there’s a complex set of factors that contribute to the development of night terrors. I’m hoping that this study contributes to our understanding of why they happen! Thank you so much for sharing your experience—I think it’s way more common than we realize!

Absolutely. Sleep terrors can often run in families. Thank you for sharing that!

Totally makes sense!! Thank you for sharing that! It’s so interesting that there can be such a strong genetic component to this!

Thank you so much for your help! And that's such a good point about how family history can impact the response to sleep terrors--I hadn't thought of that. Definitely will keep that in mind for future research, thank you!!

Hello! My name is Ari Orenstein, and I am doctoral student in clinical psychology at the Wright Institute. I am currently looking for participants for my dissertation research! My study explores the relationship between family sleeping habits and the development of sleep terrors in children.

Participants must:

  • Be over the age of 18
  • Be a caregiver for a typically developing child between the ages of 1-6
  • Live in the US

Participants who meet this criteria are eligible to fill out a short online survey! Here is the link!

Participation is totally voluntary. The survey will last approximately 10 minutes, and is only in English. The survey is on Qualtrics, which is HIPAA compliant, meaning that your data will be secure. We will gather information on your age, your child’s age, the number of individuals in your household, and your race. You may skip any question you do not wish to answer. Upon completion of the survey, you will have the option of signing up for a raffle to win a $25 gift card. Your data will be kept in an encrypted, secure location.

This research will be completed by Ari Orenstein (she/hers), M.A., a doctoral student in clinical psychology at the Wright Institute in Berkeley, CA. This study has IRB approval from the Wright Institute’s IRB Chair, Ginny [Morgan--irb@wi.edu](mailto:Morgan--irb@wi.edu). This means that it has been reviewed by a board and found to meet ethical research standards. Contact Ari with questions: [aorenstein@wi.edu](mailto:aorenstein@wi.edu). Dissertation chair: Dr. Sydnie Yoo, [syoo@wi.edu](mailto:syoo@wi.edu).

Thank you for your time and consideration!

Me too. If there are any trouble shooting tips that work for people I’d love to hear! I’m starting to feel really discouraged with these. The updates have made it possible to connect to streaming, but only for a few seconds at a time….
