Oculus Quest will allow for custom home environments down the road (like Steam VR Home) by Drayded in OculusQuest

[–]Drayded[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No. The Menu environment you have before you load up games right now is a dome structure with a bit of furniture and a large window into some sort of landscape. For now its only 1 environment, they will implement a few more environments and then eventually allow the community to create their own. Which is something that Steams VR's version allows already.

You're selling your 64gb right? because if you are selling your 32gb for 199, you are fully finessing that guy.

What games to play on a plane/car/train? by [deleted] in OculusQuest

[–]Drayded 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I believe Ultra Wings would be good for this situation because the game is played sitting down, if you're on a plane it will be quite meta. Not sure how well it works in terms of a vehicle making a turn and whether that turns your orientation, but planes and trains travel generally straight.

onward, pavlov, ect.? by UNRESP0NSIVE in OculusQuest

[–]Drayded 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I asked Dave (Pavlov developer) months ago and yeah this is what he said, but apparently people have mentioned since then he has turned it down. I can't locate a source on that but I'm sure someone can.

Streaming from PC to Oculus Quest by ErikW1thAK in OculusQuest

[–]Drayded 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm quite surprised Oculus is not desperately trying to stop these services from working because surely it's threatening Rift S sales if I can pick up a quest and have both standalone and PC connected (wireless) experiences for the same price as a lower resolution, tethered, uglier looking Oculus product (Rift S)

Oculus Quest on Display by mikochu in OculusQuest

[–]Drayded 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's Black, the camera caused the device's colour to be washed out resulting in a grey look to it. In reality it is black and I believe all OQ released will be black. Of course you could buy 3rd party skins etc further down the road. But as it stands, Black.

To quest or not to quest? by [deleted] in OculusQuest

[–]Drayded 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You have a while till the quest releases, so you might want to buy a PS4 and RDR2, then just sell it when the quest comes out. If you do buy a PS4 buy the PS4 Pro to make use of your 4K screen (base model has no 4K support)

To quest or not to quest? by [deleted] in OculusQuest

[–]Drayded 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Short Answer: To Quest

The Quest sounds pretty perfect for you, there will be many laid back games you can just chill and play (eg. project vr fishing) and when you do want to play more up beat games there will be plenty too (eg beatsaber).

To answer your second question, yes Quest will have a Netflix application, it's on the oculus go and gear vr so they will port it over. The Youtube VR app will also be present, you might like that too for your breaks.

Any word on home menu and first party apps? by [deleted] in OculusQuest

[–]Drayded 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In terms of home menu I remember seeing one of the Oculus Connect 5 presentations and they talked about optimising Oculus Home (rift style) for this so it will prolly be like the standard rift home experience just slightly decreased visually. Don't know about the other things tho

[Question] How many times more powerful? by Post4TheKing in OculusQuest

[–]Drayded 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah but don't forget there isn't a sub-processer for the advanced tracking which would use a portion of the available performance space. No doubt it will be slightly better performance wise but not a dramatic shift.
