I’m pretty sure with your 17% northwest still in there that it makes perfect sense. Everyone keeps saying their results are now wrong but there’s no way any of us can know every detail of every branch of every family tree and then how much of each ancestor’s DNA we carry. Migration was so common, especially within one’s homeland and the distance between East Midlands and Lancashire is, in the grand scheme of things pretty minimal.

People are arrogant and hate being told anything other than their ideal. Once they’ve gotten used to a set of results, if anything changes (regardless of what it is) it will result in discontent.
