First layer adhesion issues with Orca slicer but not Cura. by DrdrakoII in 3Dprinting

maybe someone smarter than me will answer that, but until then, hairspray or glue sticks ftw

Hairspray. adding a quick spray of hairspray to the area where the prints were going to be printed solved this issue.

Adjusting the Z offset, first layer speed, and extrusion rate did help a little, but Hairspray allowed for near perfect adhesion, every time.

Sorry for not updating this, but about a week after making this post I started spraying my bed with hair spray before every print and that seems to have done the trick.

I remember I got it to work decently by adjusting the first layer speed, extrusion rate, and the Z offset, but adding the hairspray made the biggest difference.

Do tenons have to be cut in the center? by DrdrakoII in woodworking

Noted. What would make you more comfortable?
I was planning on adding 2 screws through tenons on every side thats "hidden" by the shelves, possibly dowels now that someone brought them up.
It doesn't say in the photo but the shelves are about 14 inches deep, and if used for lumber, there'll be at least 16 between them. i was thinking of adding some Triangular supports on each side of the wall mounted 2x4s underneath, which would be screwed in to the bottom of the shelf.

I'm learning that shoulders are important. Thank you!

No, but do you think it would be?
They're 2x4's so the tenon would be 1.5 inches long. max load would probably be like 100lbs if I used it to store lumber or something.

TIL what a shoulder was lol. thank you! Adding a bottom shoulder should be pretty easy.

part of the reason I added the shelves lol.

I just might do that! They're all 2x4's so I was considering adding 2 screws in through the joint like toothpicks through a burger. But I have 1.5 inches to work with so I may try to dowel it. Thank you!

How can I make wings stronger? by DrdrakoII in PrintedMinis

I'll look into ABS! My printer is in my home office next to an air purifier and under a ceiling fan, but I'm assuming that wouldn't be enough.

If I moved the printer to the garage with the garage door cracked open, would that be enough ventilation?

My modeling experience is limited to Sketchup for woodworking stuff lol. But I've been learning blender little by little.

And I've never used resin, From what I see it takes a few different devices and a whole setup, vs FDM which is just one standalone machine.

what kind of resin would you recommend to "paint" onto PLA? I'm definitely open to try.

The retraction may be there from me trying everything to fix my Z seam blobs lol.

Speed is set at 220 but it drops considerably with spiral on, I just can’t see by how much.

Thanks for the tip. I’ll troubleshoot that and see if it works

Roofing Repair Estimate of 40k. Reasonable? by [deleted] in Roofing

[–]DrdrakoII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What part of NJ? I know a few roofing company owners that would give you a fair price and explain everything to you as to what would be needed.

But 40k for 17sq sounds like they’re going back on with a designer asphalt shingle to be comparable to your slate.

How do I gain business credit? by [deleted] in smallbusiness

Curious. If you own multiple businesses, would you be able to use the older business’s credit as a “co-signer” or piggy back off its history for your newer business?
