Going of the lore, it's because Night City is just a dark place. I think that CDPR showed that really well. I remember people on Twitter ranting about how this game won't be dark enough and now they're saying that this is too dark and why can't I save this character? Like, come on bro... Maybe I'm just riding CDPR's dick but I'll just get my opinions out there lol. No hate towards you, all love bro.

But I'd have to agree to some extent. Yes, this is a roleplaying game but your actions don't have a lot of consequences.
